Unreal Engine 5 Specialist – Blank Template Setup, Clean Project Architecture & Motion Matching / Mover Integration Job Description I am looking for an experienced Unreal Engine 5 technical animator/gameplay programmer to build a clean, modular, and optimized starter template for a new project. The goal of this contract is to deliver a structurally flawless, "blank slate" foundation using Epic’s latest frameworks so that I can easily scale development. No legacy code, no bloated marketplace assets, and no pre-made template clutter. Key Deliverables 1. Standardized Content Directory Architecture * Build a strictly structured, production-ready Content Folder Hierarchy from absolute scratch. * All folders must follow clean naming conventions (e.g., Prefix_AssetName). * The root folder structure must cleanly separate core dependencies, such as: * Core/ (GameMode, PlayerController, Inputs) * Characters/ (Blueprints, Skeletal Meshes) * Animation/ (Motion Matching Databases, Schemas, ABPs, Chooser Tables if applicable) * Input/ (Enhanced Input Actions and Mapping Contexts) 2. Advanced Core Locomotion Framework * Mover Component Integration: Replace traditional character movement with a highly responsive character setup using Epic’s new Mover Plugin. * Motion Matching Architecture: Set up a clean Motion Matching framework utilizing the Pose Search plugin ecosystem. This must include: * A scalable Pose Search Schema configured for standard locomotion (tracking essential foot/root bones, velocity, and trajectory). * A structured Pose Search Database mapped to a placeholder or standard skeleton. * An Animation Blueprint (ABP) configured with a Motion Matching node structure that correctly handles trajectory queries. * MOCAP Readiness: The locomotion setup must be built cleanly using Root Motion. The databases and schemas must be organized so that I can easily drop in my own custom MOCAP FBX files, update the database, and have them read seamlessly without breaking state logic. 3. Input & Clean Wiring * Implement the framework using the Enhanced Input System. * Map basic directional movement (WASD/Thumbstick) and look controls cleanly to generic input actions, driving the Mover Component and Motion Matching trajectory data perfectly. Technical Requirements * Engine Target: Unreal Engine 5.7.4. (Can switch to 5.8 if need be) * Deep knowledge of the Pose Search Plugin, Motion Trajectory, and the Mover component architecture. * Strict adherence to Unreal Engine best practices regarding naming conventions and data structures. * Strong focus on performance, avoiding redundant blueprint ticking, and keeping database sample sizes optimized.
