Vector Textile Designer for Production Ready Files (Weave, Tufted, Print)

Posted 2 days ago

Worldwide

Summary

We produce custom textiles through specialist manufacturing partners. Woven, tufted, printed, embroidered. We design in house, and we need someone to sit between our design and our makers. You receive a finished design concept from us. You rebuild it as a clean, scalable vector master, then adapt that master into the file each manufacturer needs, across several sizes and aspect ratios, with the correct bleeds. A jacquard mill, a tufting workshop, a textile printer and an embroidery house all need very different files from the same artwork. That translation is the job, and it is a real specialty. We respect it, which is why we are hiring for it rather than guessing our way through. This is not concept work. The designs and direction are ours. What you will do: • Rebuild concept images as clean, layered vector artwork, built from scratch rather than auto traced • Recompose each design across several aspect ratios, square and rectangle. Recomposing rather than stretching is the craft we care most about. • Apply the correct bleed, trim and safe zone per format and process • Reduce and lock palettes to yarn matched swatches with Pantone references • Simplify detail for processes that cannot hold it: tufting, jacquard, terry embroidery • Prepare the right file per process: vector masters, flat colour weave files, tufting maps, print files with bleed, digitized embroidery files • Build handoff packs a manufacturer can produce from without asking questions • Revise once we have physical samples back Must have: • Strong Adobe Illustrator or equivalent vector skills • Work that actually went into production. See question 1, and please do not worry if the chain is incomplete, just tell us what you have. • Colour reduction, Pantone and TCX matching, spot colour separation • A feel for why a design that looks great on screen can fail on a loom or a tufting gun • Clear written English and communication we can rely on Nice to have, please tell us if you have these • Weave or jacquard CAD: Pointcarré, NedGraphics, ScotWeave, EAT, JacqCAD • Hand tufted rug artwork and tufting maps • Embroidery digitizing: Wilcom, Hatch, Embird, Pulse, with DST or PES output • Seamless repeat and surface pattern design • Print production and prepress: CMYK, ICC profiles, bleed • Photoshop, mockup rendering, CAD or technical drawing Please list any other relevant skills even if we have not mentioned them. We are building a long term line and the scope will widen as we add categories. The arrangement: • Fixed price per project, paid on milestone completion • Ongoing, steady flow. We intend to keep the right person consistently busy. • Work for hire. Concepts, designs, files and rights are ours. No royalties. • NDA before we share any concept or client detail • Remote and flexible. We care about turnaround and quality, not when you work. To apply: Please answer all five questions. We read every proposal that does, and we know answering properly takes real time, so thank you in advance. Start your proposal with the word LOOM so we know you read this.
