Video Editor (Documentary / Story-First)

About the Project We are a consumer product company preparing a series of founder-led videos tied to a significant ongoing business situation. A reporter from a major national news outlet is currently working on a story related to our experience, and as publication approaches, we are releasing a coordinated series of founder videos that tell our side of the story — before the article goes live. The content has already been strategically shaped by a narrative strategist. We have a clear story arc, a sequenced release plan, and defined video concepts. What we need now is a skilled editor who can bring that vision to life on screen. **What You'll Be Editing** - Founder-led talking head footage (interview-style, direct to camera) - Supporting documentation, screenshots, and timeline visuals - B-roll, lower thirds, and text overlays as needed - A multi-part video series designed to build in tension and emotional impact over time **What We're Looking For** This is not a social media clip job. These are story-driven, long-form-adjacent videos — think documentary style meets founder testimony. You need to understand pacing, emotional tone, and how editing choices affect how a viewer feels about a story. You must be: - **Based in the United States** - **A native English speaker** — you need to understand nuance, subtext, and tone, not just words - Comfortable working with sensitive subject matter in a professional, confidential manner - Experienced with interview/documentary-style editing (not just reels or short-form content) - Able to take direction from a narrative lead and execute precisely **Preferred Skills & Tools** - Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (specify which you use) - Experience with color grading for a clean, credible, journalistic aesthetic - Comfortable adding motion graphics, text overlays, and basic sound design - Experience editing multi-part series or episodic content is a plus **Scope** - Starting with a small paid test edit to assess fit - Potential for an ongoing engagement through the full series release - Timeline is active — we are moving soon **To Apply, Please Include:** 1. A brief description of your editing background 2. 2–3 work samples — ideally documentary, interview, or story-driven content (not just social media clips) 3. The tools you work in 4.
