Video Editor — Music Content UK Indie Band + Solo Project | Part-time | Remote | Ongoing

Summary

Who We Are We are a UK indie band with a parallel solo indie-folk project — two distinct sounds, two distinct visual worlds. The band is cinematic, coastal, high-energy — think Foals, Palace, Two Door Cinema Club. The solo project is more intimate and sparse — Ben Howard, Nick Mulvey, Hozier territory. We film consistently across both: GoPro footage, iPhone clips, Sony camera shoots, acoustic sessions, live gig footage, cinematic outdoor content. We already have a team member who handles copy, lyrics overlays, community, and posting. This role is purely the edit pipeline — but we need someone who understands the music well enough to work with it, not just cut around it. The Role You will receive raw footage via Google Drive and a brief via Trello. Your job is to edit it to spec and get it back to us ready for the next stage. No creative direction required — we handle that. What we need is clean execution, fast turnaround, and good taste. You will need to understand the songs by name and structure (verse, chorus, bridge etc.) because a lot of the editing is section-based — you will be chopping footage to song structure, not just cutting on feel. We will give you timestamps, but you need to know the music well enough to follow them without hand-holding. GoPro Max Footage Edit in GoPro Player — experience preferred, willingness to learn fast is acceptable Walking/POV clips — two styles: World/Dome edit (fully zoomed out, tiny-planet) Closer walk edit (natural POV, feels like someone walking ahead) Rehearsal/Gig footage — three styles: Wide/World/Dome shot (full band, mostly static) Jump-cut animated edit (fast, energetic — reference provided) Static casual shot (medium framing, relaxed) Sync external audio to footage for performance clips Chop into sections by song structure — timestamps provided by us iPhone / Sony Camera Footage Colour grade using LUTs in DaVinci Resolve — we provide the LUT pack Sync external audio to performance footage Chop into sections by song structure — timestamps provided Add lyrics as text overlays where needed — lyrics and timing provided Cinematic Content (Solo Project — omelette) More atmospheric, slower-paced treatment than the band footage Outdoor/environmental shots — forests, empty roads, low light, coastal Moodier grade, longer holds, less cutting Same pipeline (Drive, Trello, export spec) — different sensibility All Exports 1080p, under 100MB per file Upload to Google Drive and update Trello card to Ready for Approval Update shared spreadsheet with any relevant notes What Good Looks Like You receive a batch of footage. You know what the song is, you have listened to it, you understand the structure. You follow the brief, apply the right treatment, sync the audio cleanly, export to spec, and drop it in the folder — without us having to chase you or re-explain the same thing twice. The edits are intentionally minimal. Clean cuts, correct colour, right format. No extra transitions, no unsolicited creative decisions. The brand is specific and we protect it carefully. If you have ideas, share them — but you execute what has been agreed, not what you think would look cool. Requirements Must Have DaVinci Resolve — colour grading, LUTs, text overlays, audio sync GoPro Max / GoPro Player experience, or demonstrable fast learner Fluent English — briefs, shared docs, occasional calls Genuine feel for indie/alternative music and aesthetics — you do not need to be a superfan, but you need to get it Fast, organised, communicative — you update the board, flag issues early, do not go quiet Reliable ongoing commitment — this is a pipeline, not a one-off Nice to Have Experience editing content for musicians or creative brands Visual instinct for what works on TikTok and Instagram Reels — not strategy, just taste Short-form content that has performed well organically Comfortable working across two projects with distinct visual identities — we run a band and a solo indie-folk project, each with their own aesthetic, and you will need to switch between them cleanly without being briefed from scratch each time What This Is Not This is not a creative director role. You will not be deciding what we post, when, or what the visual direction is. That is handled by us. If you are looking for a role with significant creative input from day one, this is probably not it. We have hired editors before who went off-brief or moved slowly. Neither worked. We need someone who follows the system, respects the brand, and treats this like a professional ongoing commitment. How to Apply Short and specific. Tell us: Your experience with DaVinci Resolve and GoPro Max Examples of performance footage you have synced or colour graded — links preferred What music you are into (genuinely — it tells us a lot) Your rate and typical turnaround for a batch of 5–10 clips If your message looks copy-pasted, we will not reply. Tell us something real.
