Video Editor Needed — Cinematic History YouTube Channel (Trial Project)

Fallen Empires (@watchfallenempires) is a dramatic history YouTube channel covering the world's greatest financial frauds, historic collapses, and the greed behind fallen empires. Think BBC documentary meets true crime — dark, cinematic, and deeply researched. We are looking for a talented video editor for an initial trial video with the goal of building a long term ongoing creative partnership. ABOUT THE CHANNEL Channel name: Fallen Empires Handle: @watchfallenempires Niche: Historical financial fraud, empire collapses, con artists Tone: Dramatic, cinematic, authoritative — like a Netflix documentary Video length: 10–15 minutes (sustainable and optimized for viewer retention) Upload schedule: Approximately 4 videos per month ABOUT THE ROLE This is an ongoing position for the right editor. We publish approximately 4 videos per month and are looking for someone who wants to grow with the channel long term. If you deliver strong work, you will have consistent, reliable projects every month. Rate: $100–$150 per video depending on quality and experience WHAT WE PROVIDE Full written script with editor notes and camera direction Recorded voiceover by a professional voice actor and on-camera host On-camera footage shot in 4K 24fps Key historical B-roll assets — period images, engravings, and archival documents sourced from public domain archives including Harvard and Yale historical collections Complete brand assets document including color palette, fonts, and visual style guide Cultural context and stock footage reference guide for each episode Production notes covering music direction, pacing, and section breakdown WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU Supplemental B-roll sourcing — additional stock footage, archival imagery, and cinematic visuals beyond what we provide. A Storyblocks or similar stock subscription is preferred but not required Cinematic color grading — dark, warm tones matching our brand palette Dramatic orchestral music selection from Epidemic Sound or Artlist — no copyright issues. Please suggest 2–3 track options per section for approval Text overlays in Cinzel font, aged gold color only 2 rounds of revisions included in your rate Final delivery: MP4, 1080p minimum, within 7 days of receiving assets 5–10 thumbnail frame pulls from on-camera footage delivered as high resolution JPGs VISUAL STYLE Color palette: Near-black backgrounds (#0D0D0D), aged gold accents (#C9A84C), deep crimson (#8B0000), off-white text (#F5F0E8) Reference channels: Magnates Media, Coffeezilla, Kings and Generals The edit should feel like a high budget documentary film — slow and deliberate at the open, building tension through the middle, and a powerful emotional payoff at the close. Music should breathe with the narration, never compete with it. This is a hybrid format — our on-camera host appears throughout the video intercut with historical stock footage. Use her face during the most emotionally powerful lines. Cut to historical footage during technical explanations and context setting.
