Upwork Posting — Video Editor & Production Coordinator (Long-Term) Long-Term Video Editor & Production Coordinator for Psychology Education I’m a clinical psychologist, author, and educator building a long-term educational platform called First Principles Psychology. Over the next several years, I’ll be producing a substantial body of work, including YouTube videos, professional online trainings, and educational resources. I’m looking for one person who wants to become a long-term creative partner in the production side of that work. This is not a one-off editing project. If we’re a good fit, I’d like this relationship to grow for years. ⸻ About the Channel First Principles Psychology isn’t a typical YouTube channel. Each video explores one psychological phenomenon—ordinary or clinical—and stays with it long enough for its hidden structure to become visible. The videos are thoughtful, calm, phenomenological, clinically grounded, and intentionally restrained. Think of them as filmed psychological discoveries rather than lectures. The production should quietly support the thinking, never compete with it. ⸻ What You’ll Be Editing YouTube 10–15 minute talking-head videos filmed in a professional studio with high-quality audio and lighting. Professional Trainings Kajabi-based educational courses for mental health professionals. The trainings use the same visual philosophy: * clean * elegant * organized * minimal Occasional diagrams will be provided when they clarify an idea. ⸻ Our Editing Philosophy The goal is not flashy editing. The goal is helping viewers remain immersed in the conversation. Your job is to preserve the atmosphere while removing distractions. Our editing doctrine * Preserve thinking. * Preserve meaningful silence. * Preserve breathing room. * Remove distractions. * Never manufacture excitement. * Never cut simply because time has passed. * If a pause carries psychological weight, keep it. * If a pause reflects searching for words rather than thinking, trim it. * Let the room breathe. * Let ideas arrive at their own pace. If someone notices the editing, we’ve probably done too much. ⸻ Typical Responsibilities Initially: * Edit YouTube videos. * Edit Kajabi training modules. * Remove mistakes and unnecessary repetitions. * Tighten pacing while preserving thoughtful pauses. * Audio cleanup and leveling. * Basic color correction. * Add consistent opening and closing title treatments. * Insert diagrams that I provide. * Export final videos. * Create clean, consistent thumbnails. As our workflow develops, responsibilities may expand to include: * Uploading YouTube videos as drafts. * Uploading Kajabi lessons. * Scheduling releases. * Exporting Shorts. * Creating social media versions. * Helping maintain a smooth production workflow. ⸻ Visual Consistency I’m looking for someone who enjoys creating consistency across a growing body of work. That includes maintaining: * consistent typography * title treatments * spacing * color grading * audio loudness * pacing * thumbnails * overall visual identity The goal is for every First Principles Psychology video to immediately feel like it belongs to the same world. ⸻ Who I’m Looking For I’m much more interested in judgment and reliability than flashy editing skills. Ideally, you are someone who: * communicates well * enjoys thoughtful educational content * takes pride in subtle, polished work * welcomes feedback * enjoys improving systems over time * wants a long-term working relationship * is excited by the opportunity to help build something meaningful Experience with psychology is not required, but curiosity about ideas and education is a plus. ⸻ Budget I’m building this project carefully and sustainably. I’m looking for someone interested in growing alongside the channel rather than charging premium agency rates from day one. If we become long-term collaborators, I expect both the relationship and compensation to grow over time. Please include: * your hourly rate, * your typical rate for editing a 10–15 minute talking-head YouTube video, * whether you’ve worked with Kajabi, * whether you’ve designed YouTube thumbnails, * and whether you’re interested in becoming a long-term production partner. ⸻ To Apply Please send: 1. Two or three examples of educational or talking-head videos you’ve edited. 2. One or two thumbnail examples (if applicable). 3. Your answer to this question: What educational YouTube channel do you think is edited especially well, and why? 4. A short paragraph telling me why this project interests you. I’m not looking for the flashiest editor. I’m looking for someone who appreciates thoughtful work, values long-term collaboration, and wants to help build a distinctive educational platform over the coming years.
