Video Editor for Faceless Automotive History Channel (Long-Term, Per-Video)
Worldwide
I'm launching a faceless YouTube channel about automotive and engine engineering history. Think documentary-style storytelling about legendary cars, engines, and the people who pushed them past their limits. I need an editor who understands that on YouTube, the edit IS the retention. I'm not looking for someone who can "cut clips." I'm looking for someone who can keep a viewer watching for 10 minutes straight. This is ongoing work. If the first videos perform, this becomes a steady 2-videos-per-week relationship across one or two channels. What you'll be editing: 8 to 13 minute faceless videos Edited to a provided voiceover (AI VO) and script Built from archival footage, stock, B-roll, and historical car/engine footage I provide or you help source Documentary pacing: clean cuts, motion text, simple engine diagrams/callouts, subtle sound design Reference channels (this is the bar): Backshift Garage EngineVault Repairman22 (for the engine-diagram style) MKTS.officially (for the storytelling structure) If you watch these and think "I can match or beat that pacing," we should talk. If you've never edited retention-focused YouTube content, this isn't the right fit. You must be able to: Cut a hook in the first 15 seconds that stops the scroll Pace for retention: no dead air, no slow intros, constant visual movement Sync cleanly to voiceover and match B-roll to what's being said Add readable text overlays and basic motion graphics Source or suggest relevant archival/stock footage when I don't provide it Take feedback and hit deadlines without chasing Nice to have: Genuine interest in cars, engines, or motorsport (it shows in the edit) Experience with engine/mechanical animation or diagrams Your own stock/footage library Paid test (required): I'll send a short script + voiceover (60 to 90 seconds) and pay you $10 to edit it. This is how I hire. No test, no offer. Your real portfolio still matters, but the test decides it. To apply, send me: 2 to 3 examples of faceless/documentary YouTube videos you edited (links, not a reel of someone else's work) Which of the reference channels above you think edits best, and one specific thing you'd do differently Your per-video rate and how many videos a week you can handle Start your message with the word PISTON so I know you read this Applications without PISTON at the top get deleted. I read everything from people who follow instructions.
