Summary

About the Project We're launching Serious Amateurs, a podcast that blends cooking and conversation, shot in a professional kitchen setting in Paris. We've just filmed our first episode and are looking for a skilled editor to bring it to life and become our go-to editor as we produce more episodes. We're looking for one person who can handle the full post-production pipeline: multicam editing, color grading, and sound mixing. You'll work with direction from our director, who reviews cuts periodically. The Footage (Episode 1) 3 camera angles, all shot in 4K Audio: 3 body/lavalier mics + 2 boom mics (separate tracks) Four distinct sessions to weave into one episode: The two hosts in conversation introducing the show Three of us (host, co-host, and guest) cooking together The three of us eating and talking at the table The two hosts in a follow-on conversation after the guest departs (continuation of the dinner topic) Approximately [2 hours] of raw footage total Deliverables Per episode: One main episode (~45 minutes), color graded, with a clean, balanced sound mix, optimized for YouTube (pacing, chapters). The episode follows this structure: Cold open: a hook montage of the best moments and takeaways that makes someone want to watch Show intro: the two hosts describing the show Cooking segment with the guest Dinner table conversation with the guest Closing conversation: the two hosts continuing the theme after the guest departs One standalone "About the Show" video, cut from the intro segment and edited to work on its own. Delivered in two versions: a full-length 16:9 cut, and a tighter sub-60-second 16:9 cut optimized as a channel trailer for new visitors A package of short-form clips: [8 to 15] vertical shorts (9:16) cut for YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, with captions and subtitles. You should have a strong instinct for what makes a moment clip-worthy. Required Skills & Tools DaVinci Resolve is required. Our director will review project files periodically, so we need to work in the same environment. Please do not apply if you work exclusively in Premiere or Final Cut. Proven multicam editing experience (podcasts, interviews, or events with 3+ angles) Color grading: matching three cameras and giving the show a warm, consistent look Sound editing and mixing: syncing and balancing 5 mic sources, cleaning dialogue, ducking, light sound design Experience editing for YouTube and Instagram: you understand retention pacing, hooks, and vertical reframing Comfortable receiving director's notes and iterating (2 to 3 revision rounds per episode) Reliable handling of large 4K file transfers (we'll share via [Frame.io / Google Drive / MASV, TBD]) Nice to Have Experience with food, cooking, or lifestyle content Motion graphics basics (lower thirds, title cards) in Resolve/Fusion English and/or French language skills (episode is in [English/French]) How We'll Work We share raw footage and a creative brief per episode You deliver a first cut of the main episode; director reviews the Resolve project and gives notes Shorts are delivered after the main episode is locked Turnaround expectation: [e.g., first cut within 10 days of receiving footage] To Apply Please include: 2 to 3 links to multicam podcast or interview edits you've done (long-form, not just shorts) 2 to 3 examples of short-form vertical clips you've cut from long-form content Confirmation that you work in DaVinci Resolve (and which version) Your fixed price for the pilot episode (main edit, trailer, and shorts package) with estimated turnaround A few sentences on how you'd approach the cold open: what you'd look for in the footage to hook a viewer in the first 30 seconds Applications without relevant multicam samples will not be considered. We're looking for a long-term collaborator as the show grows. If the pilot goes well, this becomes recurring work.
