Video Editor for YouTube Content
Worldwide
Long-form YouTube Editor — Owner-Build Documentary Series (Ongoing, Australia) We're documenting our owner-build journey in Australia from the ground up, and we're looking for a long-term editor to turn our raw footage into polished, story-driven episodes for our YouTube channel. The content: Down-to-earth, authentic build/lifestyle storytelling — think Max & Occy (https://www.youtube.com/@MaxandOccy) for tone and pacing. Clean and smooth, not glitzy or over-produced. Each episode should carry a clear narrative arc start to finish that keeps viewers hooked, while keeping the genuine, real-life feel. Our audience skews Australian and American. The work, per episode: ~1–2 hrs of raw footage in → a finished episode ~25 min (sometimes shorter/longer by topic) Story structure and pacing, clean cuts, audio cleanup and mixing, light b-roll/graphics where they serve the story, color correction, and captions/subtitles Royalty-free background music where appropriate — we're after a folk feel (Noah Kahan as a reference point) Delivered YouTube-ready Workflow: We upload all raw footage (including b-roll) to a shared Google Drive folder labelled 'RAW'. You edit and upload the finished episode to a separate Google Drive folder labelled 'FINAL' Scope: One review round per episode before the finished product is signed off. Cadence: Ongoing casual role, ~2–3 episodes/month. We want to build a consistent style and a long-term relationship, not one-offs. Confidentiality: This is personal footage of us, our family, and our property/home. It is not to be reused, shared, posted to portfolios, or used for any other purpose without our written permission. You'll be a great fit if you: Have edited real-footage long-form YouTube (vlog/documentary/build/lifestyle) — please link 2–3 relevant examples, ideally 15 min+ Edit for retention and story, not just clean cuts Have strong English proficiency, and ideally some understanding of Australian culture and humour Communicate reliably and hit a steady schedule Please don't apply if your portfolio is mainly faceless/AI "automation," cash-cow, or short-form-only — it's not the right match for this. To apply, tell us: - Which of your past edits is closest to this, and why - Your software and rough turnaround per episode - Your cost per ~25min video - After watching a Max & Occy episode, one thing you'd do to make our series feel like that
