Mohan Sivaloganathan, a filmmaker, movement leader, and TED speaker, is currently in development and launching immediate b-roll shooting for his upcoming documentary feature, What They Can't Take, which will be centered on a Haitian immigrant leader who built one of Boston’s most vital cultural organizations. Given the recent Supreme Court ruling on Haitian immigrants and the rapidly spreading chaos within the community, the project is moving with extreme urgency to capture the story in real-time. Mohan's debut documentary, In Pursuit Of, explored themes of immigration and legacy, earning multiple festival distinctions and acclaim through a global impact campaign in partnership with Picture Motion. What They Can't Take serves as the next chapter of this cinematic ecosystem, contrasting the visceral, human reality of local leadership against the hostile political caricatures being written about the Haitian homeland. To document this unfolding crisis, Mohan has an immediate need to connect with a skilled, Boston-area videographer who can hit the ground running. The videographer will be tasked with capturing crucial b-roll content by closely following the main character, filming the kinetic energy of his cultural space, and documenting upcoming emergency meetings and community events. Because of the shifting political landscape, production needs to begin shooting ASAP. More details on the aesthetic style to be shared with a short list of videographers. Depending on the quality of the content, there is opportunity to continue to engage with Mohan and his team as the film is developed and produced.
