Hotel Operations Assistant Location: Remote Schedule: Minimum 20 hours per week guaranteed Compensation: $5.00 USD per hour starting pay Growth Opportunity: Position may transition into a full-time role based on performance and business needs. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Hotel Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our hospitality business. The ideal candidate must have extensive hotel operations experience, be highly organized, possess strong systems-thinking skills, and be capable of independently managing multiple operational functions. This is a long-term position with growth opportunities for the right candidate. Responsibilities Hotel Operations Manage daily hotel operations and reservations Work within the Mews Property Management System (PMS) Monitor reservations, guest arrivals, departures, room status, and operational reports Coordinate housekeeping schedules and cleaning operations Manage laundry operations and tracking systems Coordinate maintenance requests and preventive maintenance schedules Track inventory levels and purchasing needs Ensure operational tasks are completed on time and according to company standards Guest Services Answer guest phone calls professionally Respond to guest emails and messages Resolve guest concerns and operational issues Coordinate with staff to ensure excellent guest experiences Hiring & Staff Management Recruit cleaners, maintenance personnel, and operational staff Conduct online video interviews through Zoom, Google Meet, or similar platforms Screen applicants and evaluate candidates Make hiring recommendations Assist with onboarding and training coordination Track employee performance and staffing needs Systems & Process Development Create and maintain Excel-based operational tracking systems Develop inventory tracking spreadsheets Develop maintenance tracking systems Develop housekeeping tracking systems Develop staffing and hiring trackers Develop purchasing and supply tracking systems Create dashboards and reports for management review Share and implement best-practice Excel templates when applicable SOPs & Workflow Design Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Create workflow charts and process maps for: Housekeeping operations Laundry operations Inventory management Maintenance scheduling Guest communication Check-in and check-out procedures Hiring and onboarding processes Issue escalation procedures Continuously improve operational workflows and systems Requirements Minimum 5 years of hotel management or hotel operations experience Experience using a hotel Property Management System (PMS) Mews PMS experience is preferred but not required Must be willing and able to learn Mews PMS quickly Strong understanding of: Hotel operations Housekeeping management Laundry management Inventory control Maintenance scheduling Guest services Staff hiring and onboarding Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Comfortable handling guest phone calls and email correspondence Advanced Excel skills Ability to create operational spreadsheets, trackers, dashboards, and reports from scratch Ability to create workflow charts, SOPs, and process documentation Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Hotel Manager, Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, Front Office Manager, or similar leadership role Experience managing multiple properties Experience developing SOPs and operational manuals Experience supervising housekeeping and maintenance teams Experience working with Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, and other OTA platforms Application Requirements Please provide: Resume Summary of your hotel management experience Number of years of hotel operations experience PMS systems you have used and your level of experience with each Number of hotel rooms or properties you have managed Examples of Excel systems, dashboards, or tracking templates you have created Examples of workflow charts or SOPs you have developed Your availability and time zone Confirmation that you are comfortable conducting online interviews for cleaners and maintenance staff Expected hourly rate Professional references Only candidates with at least 5 years of hotel management or hotel operations experience will be considered.
