WebAR Developer + 3D Artist — Biarritz Tourist Souvenir Magnet Project We are a French company specializing in wooden tourist souvenir magnets. We are developing a new concept: a physical souvenir magnet that comes to life in Augmented Reality (AR) when viewed through a smartphone camera. The customer should not need to download an app. The concept Physical magnet → QR code → smartphone camera → magnet recognition → 3D AR animation For our first prototype, we want to create this experience for a Biarritz, France souvenir magnet. For example, when the customer points their phone at the magnet: * The magnet is recognized by the camera. * A 3D scene appears in AR. * The Biarritz landscape comes to life. * Ocean waves move. * Birds or other elements can be animated. * The result should create a strong “WOW” effect for the customer. The experience must work directly in the mobile web browser, without requiring an iOS or Android application. Important — the physical magnet is in France The physical magnet will remain with us in France. You will not receive the physical magnet. We will provide you with: * High-resolution photos of the magnet * A front-facing photo for image tracking * Photos from different angles if needed * The exact dimensions of the magnet * Original artwork/files if available * Any other information required for development You will develop and test the WebAR experience remotely using these digital references. Once you provide the first working version, we will test it ourselves with the actual physical magnet in France and give you feedback. You must therefore be comfortable developing and testing the project remotely. What we need for the first prototype 1. WebAR Create a browser-based AR experience that: * Opens from a QR code * Requests camera access * Recognizes the Biarritz magnet using image tracking * Displays the AR experience * Works on modern iPhones and Android phones * Requires no app installation 2. 3D experience Create an attractive but optimized 3D Biarritz scene. The exact artistic direction can be discussed, but we want something similar to: Biarritz landscape / landmark + ocean + moving waves + subtle environmental animation. The goal is not necessarily photorealism. The most important thing is that the experience feels beautiful, smooth and surprising. 3. Scalable system This is extremely important. The Biarritz magnet is only our first prototype. Our company already produces many tourist souvenir designs, and if the prototype is successful, we want to potentially develop this concept for hundreds or thousands of magnets. Therefore, please do not build a solution that needs to be completely redeveloped for every magnet. We want a reusable system where we can later add: * New magnet image * New destination * New 3D model * New animation * New content The objective is: Build the AR engine once → reuse it for many souvenir magnets. Technologies We are open to your recommendations. Experience with the following is highly appreciated: * WebAR * Three.js * MindAR * AR.js * WebGL * GLB / GLTF * Image tracking * 3D animation * Mobile browser AR Please recommend the technology you believe is the best for this project. Deliverables For the Biarritz prototype: * Fully working WebAR experience * Image tracking * 3D animated scene * QR-code entry point * Mobile browser compatibility * Optimized loading/performance * Source code * 3D source files * All project/source assets * Basic documentation explaining how the system works * Instructions for adding future magnets We are looking for Someone who can combine: 3D + animation + WebAR + image tracking + web development. Please show us examples of previous WebAR projects, especially projects where a physical image/object is recognized by a smartphone camera and triggers an AR experience. Please include in your proposal 1. Examples of your previous WebAR work 2. Examples of image tracking projects 3. Examples of your 3D animation work 4. Your recommended technology 5. Estimated development time 6. Fixed price for the Biarritz prototype 7. Estimated cost/time to add a new magnet once the main system is completed We are looking for a cost-effective first prototype. If the prototype is successful, this could become a long-term project with a large number of tourist souvenir magnets. Start your proposal with: “WEBAR MAGNET” This will confirm that you have read the complete project description. Thank you!
