The company is now expanding into the Latin American market, with Colombia as its first market entry point, and is building its official storefront on MercadoLibre Colombia (mercadolibre.com.co) as the primary sales channel for this launch. Role Overview La Tienda de Zoe LLC is seeking an experienced, Colombia-based freelance e-commerce specialist to lead the end-to-end setup and launch of the company's official store on MercadoLibre Colombia, and to manage the store through its initial sales period to establish traction, reputation, and operational stability. This is a hands-on, ownership role: the ideal candidate will independently drive the project from account creation through to a fully functioning, actively selling storefront, while keeping company leadership informed at each stage. Key Responsibilities Phase 1 — Store Setup & Launch • Account setup & business validation: Register and configure the official MercadoLibre Colombia seller account under La Tienda de Zoe's legal business information, coordinating with the company to gather and submit required legal/tax documentation (NIT or equivalent business registration, as required by MercadoLibre's business-seller validation process). • Payments setup: Configure Mercado Pago for payment processing and ensure it is correctly linked to the appropriate Colombian bank account or payout method. • Logistics & fulfillment setup: Evaluate and configure Mercado Envíos shipping options (Full, Flex, and/or Colecta) based on a cost and logistics analysis; coordinate local warehousing or a third-party fulfillment partner if the chosen model requires it. • Product catalog build-out: Create complete, keyword-optimized listings for the company's initial product catalog (approximately 20–70 SKUs spanning smart pet tech and pet nutrition lines), including titles, descriptions, bullet-point specifications, correct category placement, and product images — coordinating photography or image sourcing where needed. • Pricing strategy: Set competitive, margin-appropriate pricing for each SKU using MercadoLibre's cost/pricing simulator tools, accounting for import costs, MercadoLibre commissions, shipping costs, and the company's target margins. • Listing tier selection: Choose the appropriate publication tier per product (Gratuita, Clásica, or Premium) based on an ROI analysis of visibility versus fee cost. • Storefront branding: Set up the official brand/storefront page, including banners, business profile information, and overall visual presentation consistent with the company's identity. • Regulatory compliance: Ensure the store and its operations comply with MercadoLibre's seller policies as well as Colombian e-commerce and tax requirements, including IVA (VAT) collection/remittance and electronic invoicing (facturación electrónica). Phase 2 — Initial Management & Growth (Post-Launch) • Customer service: Monitor and respond to buyer questions and messages within MercadoLibre's required response windows to protect the store's reputation score. • Order & fulfillment monitoring: Track order fulfillment and shipping performance, resolving delivery issues as they arise. • Reputation management: Actively work toward achieving and maintaining Mercado Líder (top-seller) status through consistent service-quality metrics. • Paid advertising: Set up, run, and optimize Mercado Ads campaigns to drive visibility and sales for priority SKUs. • Reporting: Track key performance indicators — visits, conversion rate, sales volume, reputation score — and provide regular performance reports to company ownership. • Inventory synchronization: Keep live listings synchronized with actual supplier/warehouse stock levels to avoid overselling or stockout situations. • Promotions: Identify and execute relevant promotional campaigns (MercadoLibre sales events, seasonal pet-industry dates, etc.). • Catalog growth recommendations: Provide data-driven recommendations to company ownership on expanding or adjusting the product catalog based on sales performance and market trends. Required Qualifications & Experience • Minimum 2 years of proven, hands-on experience managing seller accounts on MercadoLibre (Colombia or another Latin American MercadoLibre marketplace), with the ability to provide references or examples of past listings/stores. • Demonstrated experience configuring and managing Mercado Envíos logistics (Full, Flex, and/or Colecta) and Mercado Pago. • Track record of achieving or maintaining Mercado Líder / top-seller reputation status on a prior account. • Experience with marketplace listing optimization and SEO — writing effective titles, keyword placement, and category selection to maximize visibility. • Working knowledge of Colombian business and tax requirements for e-commerce operations (NIT/business registration, IVA, facturación electrónica). • Native or fully fluent written and spoken Spanish, for customer service, listing copy, and local market communication. • Professional working proficiency in English, for coordination with the US-based company ownership and, at times, with international suppliers. • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for pricing calculations, inventory tracking, and performance reporting. • Based in Colombia, with the legal ability to operate and invoice as an independent contractor (own NIT/RUT or the ability to issue a compliant invoice for services rendered). • Reliable internet access and own computer equipment to perform the work remotely. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) • Prior experience specifically in the pet products / pet care retail category. • Experience launching a brand-new store from zero, not only managing an already-established account. • Hands-on experience running Mercado Ads campaigns. • Experience coordinating product photography, either personally or through a vendor. • Familiarity with import/customs processes for products arriving from the United States or China. • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva or similar tools) for creating banners and listing images. • Experience with multi-channel inventory or listing-management tools. Candidate Profile • Entrepreneurial and self-directed — comfortable working independently with a remote, US-based owner and minimal day-to-day supervision. • Highly organized and detail-oriented, particularly around pricing accuracy, listing compliance, and tax/regulatory requirements. • Strong, proactive communicator who flags issues and opportunities early rather than waiting to be asked. • Comfortable operating in a startup environment with evolving priorities and a lean team. • Trustworthy and discreet, as this role involves access to sensitive business information including pricing, supplier terms, and account credentials. • Results-oriented, with a genuine interest in growing the store's sales and reputation over time, not just completing the initial setup. Deliverables & Success Criteria for the Initial Project • A fully configured and business-validated MercadoLibre Colombia seller account. • Mercado Pago and Mercado Envíos fully set up and operational. • The initial product catalog live on the platform, with optimized listings for every launch SKU. • Completed store branding and storefront presentation. • A documented pricing strategy, including the completed cost/pricing simulator worksheet, delivered to company ownership. • Handover documentation or a standard operating procedure (SOP) for ongoing store operations, to support a smooth transition into Phase 2 management or to a future team member. How to Apply Interested candidates should apply through this platform's application system and include the following: • Resume/CV. • Examples of, or links to, MercadoLibre stores previously set up or managed (where possible). • A brief note describing relevant experience and why this role is a good fit.
