WordPress Technical SEO Cleanup, Elementor/Divi Conflict, Broken Form, 404s (Live Site)
Worldwide
I need an experienced WordPress developer to fix a defined list of confirmed technical issues on a live, established small business website. This is not a redesign or rebuild. It's a precise cleanup project. The issues have already been diagnosed, I need someone to execute the fixes carefully. Important context: this site has real organic traffic and backlinks built up over years, so care matters more than speed here. A full backup is required before any changes, and I'd prefer work done in staging first (site is hosted on WP Engine, which offers one-click staging). Confirmed issues to fix 1. Duplicate body tags (site-wide) View-source on multiple pages shows three body tags, with the extra two carrying a data-rsssl="1" attribute. This points to the Really Simple SSL plugin's output-buffering/mixed-content-fixing feature as the likely cause. Needs diagnosis of the plugin's settings (and any interaction with caching plugins) and a fix that eliminates the duplicate tags across the site. 2. Broken internal CSS / 404s (confirmed live, not just stale cache) Several pages are actively requesting Elementor-generated CSS files that return 404, including what appears to be the site's global Elementor kit CSS file. Needs: - Elementor → Tools → Regenerate CSS - Tracking down and removing leftover references to the Popup Maker plugin (the plugin itself has been removed, but something is still calling its assets) - A find-and-replace pass: some internal links point to the site's old WP Engine staging subdomain instead of the live domain, these need to be corrected sitewide 3. Missing H1 tags (template-level fix) About 32 blog category/author archive pages are missing an H1. This is a single template fix (the archive template doesn't output an H1), not a per-page edit. A few individual pages also need H1s added directly. 4. Title tag cleanup About 31 pages have title tag issues: over 60 characters, duplicates, or under 30 characters. Need rewriting for length and uniqueness (I'll provide the specific list). 5. Image compression About 28 images over 100KB need compression. Can be handled via a plugin (ShortPixel, Imagify, Smush, or similar). 6. Broken request/quote form Submitting the on-site quote request form returns "Your submission failed because of a server error." Needs diagnosis (likely a broken integration/webhook or plugin conflict) and a working fix, tested end-to-end. 7. Footer social icons Footer social icon links (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) currently point to "#" placeholder links instead of real URLs. I'll provide the correct links. 8. YouTube embed sizing YouTube video embeds on blog posts display with broken sizing/aspect ratio. Needs a responsive embed fix. 9. Canonical/noindex/nofollow audit A review pass of canonical tags, noindex, and nofollow directives across the site to catch any accidental misconfigurations. A note on scope The list above is the full scope of this engagement. If you find additional issues while working (which can happen on a site like this), please bring them to my attention and I'll decide whether or not to add them to the scope. What I'll provide - A detailed, prioritized punch list with confirmed root causes for each issue (already diagnosed) - Screaming Frog crawl exports identifying the exact affected URLs for each issue - Site access (WordPress admin, WP Engine staging access) What I need from you - Confirmation of root causes before major changes (for example, verify the Really Simple SSL diagnosis in your own testing before applying a fix) - Work done in staging first, with a before/after comparison - A brief written summary of what was changed and why for each item, plus a final Screaming Frog re-crawl (or equivalent) confirming the issues are resolved - Clear communication if anything doesn't match the diagnosis I've provided. I'd rather know than have something silently worked around Ideal skills/experience - Strong WordPress troubleshooting experience, specifically with Elementor and Divi (or sites running both) - Familiarity with WP Engine hosting/staging workflow - Experience with SSL/security plugins (Really Simple SSL or similar) and how they can interact with output buffering/caching - Working technical SEO knowledge, comfortable reading a Screaming Frog crawl - Careful, methodical communicator. This is a "don't break what's working" project, not a fast-and-loose one Deliverables - All issues above resolved and verified - Before/after crawl comparison - Brief written summary of changes made
