Workmark Design for New Business
Worldwide
We are seeking a creative professional to design a workmark for our new business. The ideal candidate will have experience in graphic design and be able to deliver a unique and visually appealing design. The workmark should reflect our brand identity and be suitable for various applications. If you have a portfolio showcasing your previous work, we would love to see it! The business Chartline Group is a business advisory and coaching practice for owners of small companies — primarily real estate investors and retail store operators. The audience skews male, 35–60, practical, and skeptical of hype. Reference register: a contemporary private equity or advisory firm. Restrained, confident, understated. Credibility through austerity, not decoration. Critical constraint — read this first This is a wordmark-only identity. Do not design a symbol, icon, emblem, or pictorial mark. No rising arrows. No chart lines. No buildings, skylines, compasses, globes, or abstract swooshes. No monogram badges. If your proposal contains any illustrated element, it will be rejected. The entire identity is the name, set well. That is deliberate. Typography A neo-grotesque or geometric sans serif, set in caps with generous letter-spacing. Suggested (paid): Söhne, Aeonik, GT America, Suisse Int'l, Neue Haas Grotesk Display Suggested (free, commercially licensed): Inter, Instrument Sans, Archivo, Public Sans, IBM Plex Sans Do not use: Montserrat, Poppins, Raleway, Lato, Open Sans, Century Gothic, or any Futura clone. These are overexposed and will make the identity look templated. Weight should be regular or medium. Not bold. Restraint is the brief. The lockups Primary — horizontal A thin horizontal rule across the top CHARTLINE beneath it, caps, generous letter-spacing (roughly 5–6% of the type size) GROUP below that, smaller, lighter, matched letter-spacing so it optically aligns with the width above The lockup must still function with GROUP removed. Secondary — circular / square The name split across two stacked lines: CHART over LINE, centered Contained in a circle, and in a square version for favicon use Deliver both an outlined circle (thin rule, transparent interior) and a solid filled circle with the type reversed out The circular variant must survive being auto-cropped to a circle by LinkedIn and Facebook, with adequate interior margin so nothing clips. Colors Navy #0E2A47 — primary Graphite #2F3A44 — secondary text Fog #EDEFF2 — light background White #FFFFFF Accent: Signal Red #C1352C, used sparingly or not at all — a hairline rule, nothing more. In this restrained register the identity should work in navy alone. Avoid entirely: gradients, drop shadows, bevels, embossing, metallic effects, glows, teal, orange, purple. Required deliverables Lockups Horizontal (primary), with and without GROUP Circular split-stack, outlined Circular split-stack, solid fill with reversed type Square split-stack for favicon Color versions of each Navy Solid black (one color) Reversed white (one color) File formats Vector source: .AI and .SVG — required, not optional .EPS and print-ready .PDF .PNG with transparent backgrounds at 500px, 1000px, 2000px Favicon at 32×32 and 512×512 Social avatar at 400×400 Brand sheet (one page, PDF) Hex, RGB, CMYK, nearest Pantone Typeface name, weights, and exact letter-spacing values used Clear-space rule Minimum reproduction size Do's and don'ts Tests it must pass — verify before delivery Favicon test — the square stack is legible at 32×32 Monochrome test — works in pure black on white and pure white on black Circle-crop test — the circular variant survives an automatic circular crop with margin to spare Small-print test — the horizontal lockup remains legible at 1 inch wide on a business card Transparency test — reversed and knocked-out areas are genuinely transparent, not filled white Rights and licensing Full copyright and unlimited commercial ownership transfers to me on delivery, in writing The typeface used must be licensed for commercial use, and you must name the license If the font is paid, tell me before you begin so I can purchase my own license Process Round 1: 3 typographic directions, black and white only, each shown at full size and at favicon size Round 2: I select one; up to 2 rounds of refinement on spacing and proportion Final: complete deliverables package Please confirm you can meet the vector file and rights requirements, and that you understand no symbol is to be designed.
