Xero Bookeeper UK or Europe

We are looking for an experienced, reliable freelance bookkeeper based in the UK or Europe to manage the day-to-day bookkeeping for our growing premium food, wine and hamper business. We already use Xero and Dext, and our bookkeeping systems are well established. We are looking for someone to take ownership of the weekly and monthly bookkeeping processes, ensuring everything is kept accurate, up to date and running smoothly. This is not an accountant’s role or a tax advisory position. Instead, we’re looking for someone who is highly proficient in Xero, organised, and enjoys maintaining accurate financial records and processes. Key Responsibilities * Manage our bookkeeping using Xero and Dext. * Reconcile bank accounts and ensure transactions are accurately recorded. * Process supplier invoices and maintain purchase ledgers. * Prepare weekly supplier payment runs for authorisation every Monday. * Manage our consignment stock accounting processes, where suppliers invoice us weekly as products are sold. * Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports. * Ensure Xero integrates correctly with WooCommerce and investigate any issues if they arise. * Help maintain efficient financial processes and suggest improvements where appropriate. * Liaise with the business owners regarding any bookkeeping queries or discrepancies. Essential Requirements * Excellent working knowledge of Xero (essential). * Experience using Dext. * Based in the UK or Europe (within a European time zone). * Familiar with UK bookkeeping practices. * Strong attention to detail and highly organised. * Comfortable working independently and following established processes. * Good Excel and spreadsheet skills. * Confident working with cloud-based software and integrations. * Fluent written and spoken English. * Available to provide ongoing weekly support. The role is expected to require a few hours each week, with additional time at month-end to complete reconciliations and produce management reports.
