Xero Bookkeeper/Accountant Needed for Australian Business – GST, BAS & Account Cleanup

Hi, I’m looking for an experienced bookkeeper/accountant who has worked with Australian businesses and understands GST and BAS. This is a must. The job is not only to review the accounts, but also to help complete the bookkeeping, including categorising transactions, checking GST coding, reconciling accounts, and making sure the books are clean and accurate. The work will be done in Xero, so strong Xero experience is required. Main tasks: - Categorise and code transactions correctly in Xero - Check GST treatment and make sure GST coding is correct - Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and other accounts - Review work already completed and identify any errors - Fix incorrect or uncategorised transactions - Check accounts payable/receivable if needed - Help prepare the books so they are ready for BAS/accountant review - Provide a clear summary of what has been completed and any issues found - Be available for a Zoom or Google Meet call to run through the accounts if needed Requirements: - Experience working with Australian businesses - Strong knowledge of GST and BAS - Strong experience with Xero - Ability to complete bookkeeping work, not just review it - Good attention to detail - Clear communication in English - Available to start ASAP - Comfortable joining a Zoom or Google Meet call if required - Prefer someone located within a maximum 5-hour time difference from Australia/Melbourne time - Applicants from the Philippines or India are welcome due to timezone compatibility Hourly rate: Budget is approximately USD $5–$15 per hour, depending on experience. I may consider a higher rate for someone with strong Australian BAS/GST experience or registered BAS/tax agent experience.
