1. UPWORK — FULL JOB POST Title YouTube Editor & Channel Operator — Founder / Business Content — Long-Term Budget £1,750–£2,250/month ongoing retainer For Upwork, if it requires USD, position it around $2,400–$3,100/month. Job description I’m looking for one exceptional person to take long-term ownership of the post-production and publishing side of my YouTube/podcast content. Editing is the core skill, but I am specifically not looking for a narrow editor who only wants to cut timelines. The ideal person becomes my YouTube Editor & Channel Operator and owns the workflow from raw recording through to published content: Raw footage → sync → story edit → multicam → shorts → thumbnail → upload/schedule → basic channel optimisation. I want to be able to record the content, provide context where necessary, review a near-final version and otherwise stay out of the operational process. About the content I’m a founder creating content around: entrepreneurship and company-building consumer brands and ecommerce marketing and acquisition product and brand hiring and leadership finance and business economics fundraising and scaling founder mistakes and lessons strategy and decision-making Formats include solo studio recordings, founder monologues, podcasts, interviews, YouTube videos and occasional promotional/product content. The overall aesthetic should feel like premium founder/business content, not an aggressively edited internet-marketing channel. Typical weekly scope Usually: 1 × primary long-form video per week Raw material may include: 45–120 minute recordings 2–3 × 4K camera angles separately recorded professional WAV audio repeated takes and false starts podcast/interview footage solo recordings Final videos may vary from approximately 8–60 minutes depending on the format. Plus: Approximately 4–6 strong short-form clips per week for YouTube Shorts, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social channels. The clips need to work as standalone pieces of content, not random extracts from the long-form episode. You should independently own Multicam/audio syncing, organising footage, identifying the strongest takes, removing false starts and repeated sections, narrative/story editing, pacing, multicam switching, audio cleanup, colour consistency, restrained text/motion graphics, captions, music where genuinely useful, vertical reframing, selecting short-form moments and final exporting. Ideally you can also own basic channel operation, including: thumbnails uploads and scheduling titles/descriptions chapters captions/subtitles cards/end screens organising project files basic weekly analytics review flagging obvious opportunities around CTR, retention, hooks and formats You do not need to be a full-time YouTube strategist. I primarily want an excellent editor who is also comfortable owning the channel operations around the content. Creative direction Think: premium business podcast / founder interview / modern business YouTube The ideas should remain the hero. I do NOT want: constant zooms generic stock footage every five seconds meme editing giant hyperactive subtitles endless sound effects cheesy transitions “internet guru” aesthetics Good editing should make the thinking clearer, tighter and more compelling without distracting from it. What matters most I will judge candidates roughly as follows: 40% — Editorial judgement Can you understand an hour of unscripted founder content and know what should actually stay? 25% — Taste Does the result feel premium and credible? 20% — Reliability + autonomy Can I trust you to own this without chasing you? 15% — Technical execution Multicam, audio, colour, graphics, exports etc. I care much more about the first three than flashy editing tricks. The relationship I want I should be able to send you: Raw footage + basic context + objective …and receive back something where my reaction is: “Yes. That's basically what I wanted.” I do not want to manage editing through 20-minute Loom videos and frame-by-frame instructions. Tools Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve are all fine. Experience with Descript, AI transcription, AI-assisted rough cuts and other modern workflows is a bonus. I care about speed + quality + judgement, not which software you use. Turnaround Target: First long-form cut within approximately 48 hours of receiving footage. Reliability matters enormously. If you say something will arrive on Tuesday, I expect it Tuesday. Commercial structure Target ongoing retainer: £1,750–£2,250/month for approximately: one weekly long-form video 4–6 shorts thumbnails upload/channel management reasonable revisions If somebody is genuinely exceptional, I care more about finding the right long-term person than saving a few hundred pounds. Hiring process I am hiring immediately. I will shortlist a small number of candidates for the same paid editing test. You will receive actual raw footage: two 4K camera files professional audio unscripted founder/business content repeated takes You will create: A — one 45–60 second promotional video and B — one 30–60 second standalone social clip I will deliberately not provide frame-by-frame editing instructions. The point is to test your judgement. The test will be paid. Application Please answer the following directly rather than sending a generic cover letter: 1. Send your THREE strongest long-form examples most relevant to founder/business/podcast content. 2. Send your THREE strongest short-form examples. 3. Show me 2–3 thumbnails you personally created, if applicable. 4. Tell me about a video where YOU substantially improved the narrative rather than simply executing somebody else's instructions. 5. If I gave you two 4K camera files, separate WAV audio and a 65-minute solo recording containing many retakes, explain your workflow from receiving the files to publishing the final YouTube video. 6. What parts of the YouTube publishing/channel workflow are you comfortable owning yourself? 7. What turnaround can you reliably commit to? 8. How many recurring clients are you currently working with? 9. Confirm whether approximately £1,750–£2,250/month works for you. Start your application with: I OWN THE WHOLE WORKFLOW Applications without that phrase will not be reviewed. Really looking forward to hearing from you and potentially working together very soon! Thanks :)
