HIRING YOUTUBE SHORTS EDITOR: I’m looking to hire an editor to make shorts for a YouTube channel focused on popular music artists - primarily origin stories and behind-the-scenes moments told through interviews. Pay will range from $30 - $500 depending on performance, with a guaranteed base rate of $30 per completed short, and additional pay based on short performance. I will research artist interviews and provide clips from about 1-3 minutes in length. The editor will turn each clip into a polished short - cutting down the interview footage and adding B-roll, sounds effects, captions, etc. to make an engaging short about 30sec-1m in length. IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will not only be a skilled editor, but also equipped to capture the bonus pay by having a thorough understanding of what makes shorts perform well on YouTube - strong hooks, clear narrative, good pacing, engaging visuals, etc. Our channel strives to avoid AI generated video and imagery. So we are looking for someone who can source real B-Roll clips and images to accompany the interview clips. PAY STRUCTURE: Under 2k views: $30 2k+ views: $35 3k+ views: $40 5k+ views: $50 10k+ views: $80 50k+ views: $120 100k+ views: $170 250k+ views: $230 500k+ views: $350 1M+ views: $500 NOTES: $30 base pay will be sent upon completion, and additional pay will be sent 30 days later if warranted. For example: a short that reaches 10k views in the first 30 days - $30 will be paid upfront, and an additional $50 will be paid 30 days later, for a total of $80. If the short has fewer than 2k views after 30 days, no additional payment will be sent. Short performance after 30 days will not be counted towards bonus pay. I will always include a screenshot of the shorts performance after 30 days. I will also let the editor know when a short has been posted and provide a link for full transparency. For an editor that demonstrates an ability to consistently deliver high quality shorts that capture our channel’s intended style, we are open to assigning additional responsibilities like finding the source interview clips and offering a higher base pay. MY CURRENT SHORT PERFORMANCE: I have been posting 1 short a week for the last year or so, and they typically gain 1k - 4k views in the first 30 days, but some shorts have gotten over 10k and one or two have gotten over 50k views. However, I have been editing myself and I am not very skilled, which is why I believe a professional could surpass those metrics.
