E-commerce Website Designer Needed
Worldwide
About Whiskey Library Whiskey Library is a fast-growing, direct-to-consumer bourbon and whiskey subscription brand based in New York. We curate premium bottles, limited releases, and craft distilleries into a subscription experience for enthusiasts who care about discovery, education, and elevated tasting at home. Our current site is functional, but we’re ready to significantly level up the UI/UX, branding, and overall customer journey to match the quality of our product and community. Project Scope We are looking for an experienced e‑commerce UI/UX designer to lead a full redesign of the Whiskey Library website. The core goals are: Modernize and elevate the visual identity and brand expression across the site. Improve conversion and clarity across subscription flows, product pages, and landing pages. Create a clean, intuitive, and mobile-first experience for both new visitors and existing subscribers. You will be working directly with the founder and our existing developer. The developer will handle implementation; your focus is on UX, UI, and design systems. What you’ll be doing Audit our current website experience and identify UX, UI, and conversion issues across key flows (homepage, subscription sign-up, product pages, account/portal, checkout, and content). Design a new site experience in Figma using our existing design system as a starting point, then refine and extend that system (colors, typography, components, spacing, states). Define a clear design language that reflects a premium, elevated whiskey brand (photography usage, tone, iconography, layout structure). Create all key screens and states needed for development handoff, including responsive designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Collaborate with the founder on UX decisions and brand direction, and with the developer to ensure designs are implementable and performant. Prepare organized Figma files with components, documentation, and annotations so our dev can implement efficiently. Deliverables Updated and refined Figma design system (components, styles, patterns) aligned with Whiskey Library’s brand. High-fidelity mockups of all key pages (homepage, subscription flows, product listing/product detail, educational content pages, account/portal screens, checkout-related views). Responsive variants for core templates (desktop, tablet, mobile). Clear design specs and handoff documentation for our developer (spacing, typography scales, states, interactions). Requirements 3+ years of experience designing e‑commerce or subscription-based websites. Strong portfolio showcasing: High-conversion e‑commerce flows. Clean, modern UI with a strong eye for typography and layout. Experience working with or building design systems in Figma. Comfortable collaborating closely with founders and developers in a fast-moving environment. Solid understanding of UX best practices for: Product discovery and filtering. Subscription sign-up and plan selection. Onboarding and account experiences. Excellent communication skills and responsiveness. Nice to have Experience with lifestyle, luxury, or beverage/CPG brands. Familiarity with Shopify and subscription experiences (Recharge, Recharge-like flows, or similar). Understanding of basic CRO principles (AB testing, above-the-fold hierarchy, persuasive layout patterns).
