iOS Usability Tester - Outside User Validation for Live App Store App
Only freelancers located in the U.S. may apply.U.S. located freelancers only
About the app: StoreRead is a video storytelling app for families and communities to record and preserve spoken memories and life stories. It's live on the App Store and has been tested in-house. We now want honest feedback from a first-time outside user — can a non-technical person succeed at the core flow, and does it feel good to use? Location: US-based testers only. What you'll do: - Use the app as a real first-time user and complete the guided test scenarios we provide. - Test the core flow end to end: record/upload video, review the auto-generated transcript for accuracy, play back, search, tag/organize, and share (including opening a shared/deep link). - Evaluate usability from the perspective of a non-technical adult user and flag bugs, crashes, confusing steps, and anything slow or unclear. About the videos you'll upload: You'll record and upload two of your own test videos to exercise the flow — please include at least one longer video close to the 20-minute maximum StoreRead supports, plus a short clip. Content can be anything low-stakes (talk about your day, describe a hobby, read aloud). Pay attention to upload time, transcription accuracy, and playback on the long video especially. Uploads are private by default and deletable. Deliverables (required for the $300 fixed price): 1. Completion of all provided test scenarios across the core flow (record, upload, transcript, playback, search, tagging, sharing/deep links). 2. At least two videos uploaded and tested: one short clip and one close to the 20-minute maximum, with notes on upload time, transcription accuracy, and playback. 3. A completed bug/issue report using our template — each item with: description, severity, steps to reproduce, device + iOS version, and a screenshot or screen recording. 4. A written usability assessment (roughly 1 page): what worked, what confused you, where you hesitated, and your top recommendations, judged as a non-technical user. 5. Testing on at least one real iPhone (iOS 17+); iPad coverage a plus. 6. Short screen recordings for any non-obvious bug or confusing step. Devices: - Real devices only (no simulators). - iPhone primary (iOS 17+); iPad secondary if you have one. We provide: - App Store download link, a test account, and sample content. - A guided test plan (scenarios/tasks) and a bug-report template. Requirements: - Prior iOS app testing (QA or UX) with clear, reproducible bug documentation. - Comfortable recording your screen and writing concise, specific feedback. - Consumer-app / media or search testing experience a plus. Compensation & duration: - Fixed price: $300 for the complete testing engagement and final report. - Expected effort roughly 3–5 hours over 5–7 days. - Milestones: (1) $100 on completion of test scenarios + interim notes; (2) $200 on delivery and approval of the final report and all deliverables above.
