industrial designer production CAD for hard Shell luggage (Thermoformed PC)

Review our design intent package (dimensions, surface geometry rule, materials, tolerances provided under NDA once engaged) • Produce resolved concept surfacing across all faces, including a clean, continuous treatment around the body’s corners • Deliver production CAD: native files plus STEP and IGES, split shell halves, defined parting line, draft angles, and wall thickness strategy • Prepare interface documentation for wheels, telescopic handle, zipper track, and hardware mounting points • Be available to answer our Chinese manufacturer’s DFM questions and issue revisions through first sample approval This is not a from-scratch design job. The surface pattern, proportions, dimensions, and materials are already defined. We need someone who can execute that direction in production CAD a thermoform manufacturer can tool from and who can hold the line on the design intent without letting DFM pressure quietly flatten it. You should have: • A portfolio showing curved-surface CAD for hardgoods luggage, cases, consumer electronics enclosures. (General product or furniture work alone won’t demonstrate the surfacing skill this needs.) • Working fluency in SolidWorks, Rhino, or equivalent NURBS-capable CAD, specifically for lofted/swept surfaces • Direct experience preparing files that went to a Chinese manufacturer for tooling not just rendering • Comfort working from a written specification rather than open-ended concepting Process: work is milestone-based direction confirmation, resolved concept, production CAD, factory liaison through first sample each with its own deliverable and payment. Full project detail, drawings, and specification are shared after you’re engaged, under a signed NDA and a written IP assignment.
