**About the Organization** We are a small, uniquely diverse co-ed independent school located on a 15-acre campus in Westbury, New York, serving students from Nursery through Grade 3. Founded nearly 70 years ago, we operate under the care of a Quaker Monthly Meeting and are guided by the testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. We are members of the Friends Council on Education (FCE) and hold provisional membership in the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS). We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a Four-Star Charity Navigator rating and a strong track record of fiscal accountability. **The Role** We are seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to serve as our senior financial strategist and oversee all financial operations of the school. This is a part-time, ongoing engagement ideal for a finance professional with nonprofit or independent school experience who values mission-driven work and can bring institutional-grade financial discipline to a small, community-centered organization. **Key Responsibilities** - Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning - Prepare and present financial reports to the Head of School and Board of Trustees - Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors - Ensure compliance with IRS 990 filing requirements, NYSAIS standards, and all applicable nonprofit financial regulations - Oversee tuition revenue, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management - Advise on tuition-setting strategy, financial aid modeling, and enrollment impact - Support capital planning and reserve fund stewardship - Coordinate with the school Treasurer and Board Finance Committee - Identify and support grant compliance and restricted fund accounting **Ideal Candidate** - CPA or equivalent credential strongly preferred - Prior CFO, Controller, or senior finance experience with a nonprofit, independent school, or faith-based institution - Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP/ASC 958) and Form 990 - Experience with QuickBooks or comparable nonprofit accounting software - Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders including faculty, parents, and board members - Alignment with Quaker values of integrity, stewardship, and community - New York familiarity a plus; remote work possible with periodic on-site availability **Engagement Details** - Type: Fractional / Part-time (estimated 10–20 hours/month; may vary by cycle) - Location: Westbury, NY (remote-friendly with occasional on-site presence) - Compensation: Hourly or monthly retainer — please state your preferred structure and rate in your proposal
