JĒNAI CreaLab is a cosmetic consulting and product development company helping emerging beauty entrepreneurs transform their artisanal recipes into professionally formulated, compliant cosmetic products. As part of our expansion, we are building our own Professional Cosmetic Formulation Library, consisting of high-quality, ready-to-manufacture cosmetic formulations that will be used to support our clients. We are looking for an experienced Cosmetic Chemist / Formulation Scientist for a long-term collaboration. The Project We are seeking a formulation expert to help us build a growing library of professional cosmetic formulations. Our goal is to develop robust, stable formulations that can later undergo cosmetic safety assessment (CPSR) and be offered as part of our consulting services. We will initially start with three formulations, with the intention of expanding the library continuously as demand grows. This is not a one-time project—we are looking for someone interested in becoming a long-term technical partner. Initial Formulations The first phase will include three products, such as: • Whipped Body Butter • Hair Butter / Hair Growth Butter • Hair Oil (The exact products will be discussed together.) Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Developing professional cosmetic formulations from scratch or optimising existing concepts. Creating formulations expressed in percentages. Suggesting appropriate raw materials and ingredient alternatives. Preparing complete manufacturing procedures (SOPs). Providing batch calculations. Advising on ingredient compatibility and stability. Advising on preservation systems where applicable. Ensuring formulations comply with current EU Cosmetic Regulation. Preparing formulations suitable for subsequent CPSR evaluation. Collaborating with our team to continuously improve and expand our formulation library. Deliverables (per formulation) Each completed formulation should include: ✔ Full formulation (percentages) ✔ INCI list ✔ Manufacturing procedure ✔ Manufacturing temperatures ✔ Mixing instructions ✔ Batch calculations ✔ Expected pH (where applicable) ✔ Ingredient function table ✔ Suggested packaging ✔ Storage recommendations ✔ Shelf-life guidance (estimated) ✔ Supplier recommendations (preferred) ✔ Technical notes and formulation rationale Preferred Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Has experience developing cosmetic formulations. Understands EU Cosmetic Regulations. Has experience preparing documentation for cosmetic products. Has worked with body care and/or hair care products. Can communicate clearly in English. Is organised, detail-oriented and responsive. Is interested in building a long-term working relationship. Experience with African hair care or textured hair products would be a strong advantage. Nice to Have Experience with: Naturally derived formulations Waterless cosmetics Hair care Emulsions Whipped butters Cosmetic stability optimisation EU cosmetic compliance Safety assessment preparation Collaboration We are looking for a long-term partner, not simply a freelancer. The successful candidate will become our preferred formulation consultant as our cosmetic formulation library continues to expand.
