I am an enthusiastic back end .NET developer. I have deep experience with C#, SQL, API's, cloud technologies (AWS and Azure), and much more since 2016. I am fairly new to the UpWork platform, and most recently worked for Moody's Analytics for the past 4 years. I loved my time there, but wanted to pursue some personal projects and a more active lifestyle. In my spare time I enjoy rock climbing and remodeling my house :)
One project I am especially proud of is developing an original search algorithm similar to Zillow Zestimate. I greatly improved the accuracy of the results from the old algorithm by using complex mathematical formulas, and reduced the query time from 20+ seconds to a small fraction of a second.
Another fun project was running risk analysis calculations for investment portfolios, which required 100k to 2mm service bus messages and calculations per request. To achieve this in real-time, my team and I engineered a microservice structure with Azure Functions that scaled on demand. We were extremely detail oriented with our code and the settings in Azure to make sure everything ran quickly and with minimal cost.

I'm a full-stack .NET developer with 11 years of experience based in Los Angeles. I'm a true full-stack developer, so I can work equally well on both front and back ends. I have experience in building applications from start to end, so I can take care of building almost any project, then supporting it for the long term.
Here are some highlights from my background:
- My tech stack is .NET, .NET Core, C#, SQL, Entity Framework, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular.
- Experience with Azure and AWS. I'm especially good with Azure. I can setup Azure resources such as App Services, Function Apps, Azure SQL Databases, Storage Accounts, Key Vaults, Azure DevOps source control, deployment pipelines, etc.
- Experience in working on large SaaS applications in healthcare, manufacturing, retail, human resources, and legal industries.
- Experience in developing MVPs from start to end.
- I write clean and understandable code with well defined architecture using best practices for software security.
- Experience in SaaS and multi-tenant applications.
- Great work ethics and honesty. If I don't know something, I'll tell you. If I messed up something, I'll tell you.
My Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate
Also, I have a team of full-stack software developers. Building and supporting an application for a successful startup usually requires more than one developer. Building an application is like building a house. It usually requires a crew to complete. My team can join your project and help with building it, then support and enhance it in the future.

I'm a senior .NET / C# developer and Azure cloud architect who builds and scales production systems for companies that can't afford downtime or rework — healthcare platforms, fintech products, e-commerce systems, and real estate/property-management software.
If your project needs more than someone who writes code to spec — if you need someone who can architect the solution, own the delivery, and still be there for support six months later — that's the role I take on.
WHAT I BUILD
────────────────────────
✦ SaaS Platforms — multi-tenant, subscription-based .NET Core / Azure applications built to scale from a handful of users to enterprise volume
✦ Healthcare Systems — HIPAA-aware EHR/EMR platforms, HL7/FHIR integrations, and clinical workflow tools built to compliance standards
✦ Fintech & Payments — secure transaction processing, Stripe/PayPal integrations, reporting and reconciliation systems, PCI-conscious architecture
✦ E-Commerce Platforms — custom storefronts, order/inventory management, and integrations with payment gateways, CRMs, and ERPs
✦ Real Estate & Property Management Systems — listing platforms, tenant/lease management tools, and workflow automation for property teams
✦ AI-Powered Features — OpenAI/LLM integrations, intelligent document processing, and AI-assisted workflows added to existing .NET applications
✦ Legacy Modernization — turning outdated ASP.NET/VB.NET systems into maintainable, cloud-ready .NET 8 platforms without breaking what already works
TECH STACK
────────────────────────
+ Backend: C# · .NET 8 / .NET Core · ASP.NET Core · ASP.NET MVC · Web API · Entity Framework Core · LINQ · Blazor · SignalR · Microservices · REST & SOAP APIs
+ Frontend: Angular · React · TypeScript · JavaScript · HTML5 · CSS3 · Blazor UI
+ Cloud & DevOps: Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, AKS, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure SQL) · AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3) · Azure DevOps · GitHub Actions · CI/CD · Docker · Kubernetes · Infrastructure as Code
+ Databases: SQL Server · PostgreSQL · Cosmos DB · MongoDB · Stored Procedures & Query Optimization for high-volume systems
+ Integrations: Stripe · PayPal · Twilio · SendGrid · OAuth 2.0 · HL7 · FHIR · CRM/ERP integrations
HOW I WORK
────────────────────────
I stay involved from architecture through deployment — writing clean, documented, production-ready code, and communicating progress clearly at every step. I manage scope, timelines, and stakeholder expectations as carefully as I manage the codebase itself. Depending on what your project needs, I can work as a hands-on senior engineer, a solution architect, or a long-term technical lead.
I'll tell you honestly, early, if I'm the right fit for what you're building. Send me your project scope and I'll respond within a few hours.

Most $100K-$500K technology failures start with one bad decision — and by the time you realize it, the money's gone.
The founder approves the dev agency. The CEO commits to the AI platform. 6-12 months later: project stalled, budget burned, nothing shipped.
I help you see the fatal flaws BEFORE you commit the capital.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜 𝗗𝗢:
I provide Fractional CTO Advisory — independent technical validation for founders, investors, and CEOs making technology decisions that can't afford to fail.
When you're about to commit $200K to a dev agency, hire your first CTO, or approve a legacy system replacement — you need someone who's seen it go wrong 50 times.
I find the fatal flaws vendor pitches hide:
• Architecture constraints that make roadmaps impossible
• Development estimates 3x too optimistic (blowing your runway)
• Integration assumptions that break under real conditions
• Missing decision ownership letting projects drift 6+ months
My rate is $250/hour, but most work is structured as ADVISORY PACKAGES:
𝟭. 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗨𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗧
Question: "Should we invest/hire this agency/approve this project?"
Deliverable: Go/No-Go recommendation (3-5 days)
At stake: $50K-$500K | Fee: $5K-$8K
ROI: One avoided bad hire pays for 5+ years of diligence
𝟮. 𝗣𝗥𝗘-𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗔𝗚𝗘
Question: "How do we pass investor technical diligence?"
Deliverable: Investor-ready docs + Q&A prep (1-2 weeks)
At stake: $500K-$3M round | Fee: $4K-$7K
ROI: Failed fundraising costs 3-6 months + founder credibility
𝟯. 𝗖𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥
Question: "Who do we call for CTO-level judgment without a CTO?"
Deliverable: On-call guidance (5-8 hours/month)
At stake: $100K-$300K quarterly spend | Fee: $3K-$5K/month
ROI: One bad vendor/architecture choice costs $150K+ to unwind
𝟰. 𝗖𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗠 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬
CTO transitions, dev agency evaluation, legacy modernization, AI feasibility — pricing based on complexity and capital at risk.
30-minute discovery call (free) to assess what you're protecting and recommend the right model.
I do NOT provide hands-on dev, team management, or embedded roles (20+ hrs/week). I provide independent judgment preventing costly mistakes.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦:
Technology failures hide in:
• Dev proposals skipping hard integration questions
• "Modern stack" pitches ignoring your operating constraints
• AI demos working in labs but failing in production
• Roadmaps assuming 5 things go perfectly — all 5 wrong
6-12 months post-contract: budget spent, runway shortened, asking "how did we miss this?"
You missed it because the pitch looked credible, the agency spoke confidently, the contractor said "feasible" — and no one asked questions exposing fatal flaws BEFORE commitment.
I ask those questions.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜'𝗩𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗗:
25+ years as CTO across defense, water infrastructure, energy, fintech, edtech — 14M+ endpoints, zero-downtime environments.
Recent outcomes:
• $250K dev contract avoided — assessment revealed team lacked integration experience (founder negotiated 40% better rate elsewhere)
• $1.2M seed secured — package removed investor concerns (diligence passed first review, 30-day close vs 60-90)
• $180K AI killed at 60 days — retainer ID'd misaligned case before $140K more spent
• $320K migration, zero downtime — rollback protocol designed, 12% under budget
• $150K saved on CTO hire — assessment caught skill gaps founder couldn't evaluate
I understand startup urgency AND enterprise reliability — critical when burning $50K-$100K/month.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦:
"Finding Daniel was hitting 'Triple 7's'! Grasped our concept immediately, provided extremely valuable insight. Tasked him with vetting dev teams — methodically found perfect fit. Without Dan, wouldn't have achieved our progress. Cannot recommend enough."
— Steve, ZinZuu
"In the first few minutes Daniel showed us he's a true professional and expert. He provided more value than we asked for and really simplified complex technical things in terms our whole team understood. Highly recommend for advice on development projects."
— Robert, Private - Startup Initiative
"Knew within minutes we found who could lead us to launch. Detail oriented, professional, responsive, excellent communication. Knowledgeable, experienced leader. Recommend without reservation."
— Jen, GoShimmy
"Hired for Windows app requiring deep IoT I/O understanding. Took loose specs, unraveled details, developed fast/reliable solution. Highly recommend as Sr. engineer for any magnitude."
— Heath, Mueller Water

I build AI-powered applications that ship to production and survive contact with real users.
𝟏𝟔 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 of full-stack engineering, now focused on AI agents, RAG, and LLM integrations. I work on a .NET, React, and Angular foundation, which means I can also handle the parts that aren't glamorous: auth, deployment, databases, and a UI that doesn't make users cry.
WHAT I BUILD
▸ AI Agents. Multi-step, tool-using agents that actually finish what you start them on.
▸ RAG Applications. Chat-with-your-docs, internal knowledge assistants, semantic search over private data.
▸ LLM Integrations. Adding GPT, Claude, Gemini, or open models into existing apps without breaking the rest of the codebase.
▸ Full-stack web apps. Angular or React on the front, .NET on the back, cloud-native on Azure or AWS.
▸ Legacy modernization. Moving 15-to-20-year-old codebases into the present. I've done this three times, including a beloved baseball simulator with millions of simulated games.
STACK I WORK IN
Backend: .NET 8, C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, Python, Go, Java
Frontend: React, Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, Storybook, design systems
AI: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, LangChain, vector databases, RAG pipelines, agent frameworks
Data: SQL Server, Redis, MongoDB
Cloud: Azure (Web Apps, Functions, SQL, Storage), AWS (Lambda, EKS), Terraform, Kubernetes
Auth: JWT, OAuth, Auth0, ASP.NET Core Identity
RECENT RESULTS
✓ Built and shipped a Google Gemini-powered AI system for automated outbound patient communications inside a physical therapy EMR platform, deployed across a network of rehabilitation hospitals and university health systems.
✓ Rebuilt a 20-year-old baseball simulation app (millions of simulated games, loyal user base) from classic ASP to .NET 8 and Angular on Azure. Improved 90-day user retention by over 10% and unlocked a new design system for the product team.
✓ Architected and shipped a multi-tenant SaaS platform for the event registration industry, migrating from on-prem data centers to Azure PaaS. Grew revenue 10% through direct client work and cut IT infrastructure spend by 40%.
✓ Led cloud architecture for a national crop insurance carrier across AWS and Azure. Set up Terraform-managed infrastructure, mentored a team of dev leads, and shipped a Figma-to-production design system bridging design, product, and engineering.
WHAT A RECENT CLIENT SAID
"I hired Adam specifically because of his wide variety of experience and his profound level of skill. Over 18 months he proved himself to be an active and helpful member of the team. His versatility and engagement was crucial to our growth. I would enthusiastically recommend him."
— Jason, BaseHit
HOW I WORK
I show up, I listen, I write code that holds up under load. I'm comfortable being the senior voice in the room or the quiet pair of hands, whichever the project actually needs. I won't pretend to know something I don't, and I won't talk you into AI when a SQL query would do the job.
If you're building something AI-powered and want someone who can also handle the unglamorous parts (the auth, the deployment, the schema, the UI that doesn't make users cry), let's talk.

I build custom C# / .NET software for businesses that need reliable desktop applications, internal tools, and practical workflow solutions.
My main experience is in Windows desktop development and business software. I work with C#, WPF, MAUI, ASP.NET Core, Razor, MVC, MVVM, SQL, Entity Framework, and Web API, and I’m also interested in Blazor-based internal applications. I’m a good fit for projects involving internal tools, workflow systems, document generation, printing features, integrations, and software that supports day-to-day operations.
I work well on MVPs, prototypes, and milestone-based projects where the goal is to turn a business need into a practical working solution. I can take ownership of a project, communicate clearly, and make practical decisions to keep development moving.
I can also help refine requirements as the project evolves. In many business applications, the best solution becomes clearer during implementation, and I’m comfortable helping shape that process while keeping the work structured and aligned with the client’s goals.
I’m especially interested in .NET applications for internal platforms, admin tools, business automation, and AI-assisted workflow solutions where the technology supports a real business need.
I usually prefer fixed-price or milestone-based projects when the scope is clearly defined, because it keeps the process transparent and predictable for both sides.
If you need help building, improving, or supporting a .NET desktop application, internal business tool, or custom software solution, I’d be glad to discuss your project.
