I am an experienced journalist of over 15 years who can produce high-quality content and take the average copy and transition it into professional copy. I can also assist you with copy editing and proofreading needs so your copy is stellar and error-free. I specialize in sports, working the last 5 years primarily as a sports copy editor and writer.
In my career, I have achieved the following:
- I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of South Florida.
- I worked for 10 years as a copy editor, agate researcher, and in layout design at one of the top newspapers in the country, working in the sports department.
- I taught Journalism, English, U.S. History, and Creative Writing for nine years and developed an award-winning Yearbook and Newspaper program after starting it from scratch.
- I helped develop award-winning high school writers and journalists at the state level.
- I won Journalism Teacher of the Year in 2016.
- I type at a 102 WPM rate with 98% accuracy.
- I have completed projects and received excellent feedback on Upwork in the areas of review writing, copy editing/proofreading, web content, press releases, and sports opinion columns.
What can I do for you? I can help you with the following:
- I have extensive experience in review writing. I taught it for nine years and have completed many projects thus far on Upwork, conducting reviews.
- I can provide web content for your website, whether it be new or needs to be upgraded. I will make sure the writing sounds professional and communicates to the audience what you are looking for.
- I can look over and proofread any copy you need, and can also recommend or make the proper adjustments to improve the overall quality of writing so it tailors to your needs and your audience's needs.
- I have experience in marketing and can assist you with copywriting and advertising.
- With my teaching background, I can design and prepare tests, quizzes, and worksheets in the areas of English, Creative Writing, and History, all which I have a Professional Teaching License in.
- I can blog content for you so that what you are trying to get across can get across in a professional and sophisticated manner.
To summarize:
If you are looking for someone who is a strong writer and can help you with your copy needs, let's talk.
If you are looking for someone who is passionate about what they do and will never miss a deadline, I'm an email away.
If you are looking for someone to have a good relationship with and who will cater to your needs and do whatever it takes to produce what you are asking for, look no further.
Overall, I am determined to succeed and do something I love, and writing and editing are my passion. I have a history of being a tireless and hard worker who will do whatever is necessary to produce a desired product. I believe the client-employee relationship is important, and I will meet the client's needs. I have never missed a deadline in over 15 years.
On the fun side of things, I love sports, particularly golf, and have actually tried to become a professional golfer on the side. However, hitting a golf ball 12 hours a day started to wear thin. I am a big Notre Dame football fan and a huge Tampa Bay Lightning hockey fan. Go Bolts! I am fluent in English and Seinfeld, and am a movie nerd. I know the movie Braveheart by heart.

Finding your first editor or a new editor can be a scary experience . . .
You have a book manuscript that needs editing — whether that's big-picture structural work, sentence-level polish, or mechanical cleanup before publication.
Maybe you're a new author and have never worked with an editor before.
Or you're a seasoned writer and need a re-edit due to a previous bad editing experience.
• You want your readers to have a good experience with your book.
• You want your content to be error-free.
• You want your Amazon reviews to praise your excellent content rather than focus on grammar and spelling mistakes, poor sentence structure, repetition, or inconsistencies in your storyline.
• You need someone who can really focus on the details, cohesiveness, and flow of your book.
• You want an editor who's responsive and focuses on YOUR writing and YOUR needs and keeps YOUR voice…and one who doesn't disappear immediately after the initial edit.
You've invested a lot of time and energy into your book — and your editor should be willing to do the same. My years as an English teacher and an editor will ensure that you end up with a manuscript you can be proud of. I look forward to working together to fine-tune your book before publication!
==================
Developmental Editing
==================
Developmental editing looks at your manuscript from the top down — the big picture. Before focusing on sentences and grammar, a developmental edit evaluates the overall structure and foundation of your story, including:
• Plot Structure & Pacing
• Character Development & Arc
• Point of View & Narrative Voice
• Scene & Chapter Organization
• Subplots & Storyline Consistency
• Gaps, Contradictions & Plot Holes
• Overall Clarity & Reader Engagement
This is the right starting point if your manuscript is complete, but you're not yet confident that the story as a whole is working at its best.
=========
Line Editing
=========
Good writing is more than just good grammar. The focus of line editing is on the words in your book and how they’re put together. A line edit looks at creative content, writing style, and language use at both sentence and paragraph levels and can include edits for:
• Flow
• Readability
• Repetition
• Clarity
• Word Choice & Wordiness
• Awkward Phrasing
• Tense consistency
• Point of View
• General Consistency
• Dialogue Issues
==========
Copyediting
==========
Copyediting is a lighter form of editing that involves getting things right mechanically. When doing a copyedit, I dig into each sentence on its own to be sure there are no errors, focusing mainly on syntax and grammar rather than the manuscript as a whole. This is best done after a line edit, when you're confident that your book as a whole reads well but you'd like to be sure your final product is professionally polished.
All edits are made with the intention of keeping your voice intact throughout your book.
Your content will be edited on time, according to your specified deadline.
All edits will be made using Track Changes in Microsoft Word. When I find errors in consistency, awkward phrasing, or plot issues, I'll leave a comment explaining the problem so that you know what needs to be addressed. The initial edit will be returned to you so that you can review my changes and either accept or reject them as you choose. My fee always includes a second read-through after you've had a chance to accept/reject/question the edits I've made.
I am committed to your complete satisfaction and getting your project finished on time and within budget!

I graduated on May 9th, 2020 with a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of South Florida and received a Master's in Healthcare Administration from South University in 2021. I have been writing since I was in middle school, and since then, I have been published in several publications and media outlets, including the University of South Florida newspaper the Oracle, Equine America Magazine, US Equestrian Magazine, and Horse & Hound. I created a blog called Hearts and Hoofprints on Tumblr and later, Parapiaffe on Wix.com to share my journey as a para-equestrian and write about different horse-related topics such as the varying horse breeds worldwide. I use my media presence to share the world of therapeutic horseback riding, para equestrianism, and my passion for horses with others.
I have been riding horses for 8 years and know various equine-related topics. Although equestrian content is my main niche, I can apply my content creation expertise to other areas.
