In my career producing music and sound, I've been lucky to work on acclaimed projects which have garnered millions of views and streams, and sold thousands of copies around the world. As a composer for film and video, I've provided original music for international advertising campaigns with major organizations including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Roots, and Frank and Oak; and for movies that have appeared in cinemas at major film festivals including Cannes. Additionally, I've worked as a sound designer, editor and mixer on several films, documentaries, podcasts and radio projects. Raised in Victoria, BC, Alexander Brendan Ferguson is a musician, singer, songwriter, keyboardist, film & television/theatre composer, music producer, and teacher. With a deep love of pop, funk, R&B, jazz, and soul, he has released two singles, "Get What You Need" and "Afterglow”, featuring his smooth vocals, agile keyboard playing, and tight, punchy production. As a producer and songwriter, he has also produced and written songs for The Soul Shakers’ albums "Love Is Love”, "Ready for You”, and Impulse Response’s EP "Light Waves”. He co-wrote and produced Christine Upright’s singles “Sacred Note” and “My Woodland Fairy Tale”. Alexander is a two time Leo Award nominated film & television composer. With a background in acting and theatre, he brings a strong intuition to musical storytelling, composing music that can both support a scene and help it come alive. He has written the scores for the Orca Cove Media films "The Great Salish Heist, "A Cedar Is Life" (Leo nomination*), "Tzouhalem" (Leo nomination*), "Dust n' Bones", and the LessBland Productions film "Gone South: How Canada Invented Hollywood". He was also the composer for the Orca Cove Media series "Ollie & Emma" and the LessBland Productions series "She Kills Me”, “Wine Guys: Grape Escapes", "Tips and Tricks for Everyday Living", and "Muscle Muse". Alexander is currently composing music for the Orca Cove Media film "Tzinquaw Opera”. * nominated for "Best Musical Score" - Feature Length Documentary category - Leo Awards Alexander’s vibrant love of theatre has lead him to compose music and create sound for many theatre companies on Vancouver Island and in Vancouver including Kaleidoscope Theatre, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Pi Theatre, The Only Animal, Blackbird Theatre, Solo Collective, and Gateway Theatre. He holds a BFA in theatre from the University of Victoria - Acting Specialisation, was in the Charlottetown Festival Young Company, did an acting and sound design apprenticeship at the Chemainus Theatre Festival, and studied at Canada's National Voice Intensive. He is a founding member, singer, and keyboardist for both the Alexander Ferguson Trio and the soul/pop band Impulse Response. He also plays keyboards and sings with the R&B band, The Soul Shakers. Alexander was a founding member, singer, and keyboardist with the rhythm, blues, and groove band, Momentum. He has played at venues all over Victoria, Vancouver Island, and beyond and at festivals such as The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival, The Nanaimo Summertime Blues Festival, The Oak Bay Tea Party, Saanich Fair, The Victoria Blues Bash, BC Smoke Shop Harbour Blues 'N Roots Festival, and The TD International Victoria Jazz Festival (including opening for St. Paul & the Broken Bones with Impulse Response at The Royal Theatre). As a teacher, he teaches voice, piano (and other keyboards), songwriting/composition, and music production. He has also taught musical theatre and acting at Kaleidoscope Theatre and Cedar Hill Arts Centre. He taught voice and piano at Larsen Music, and voice & singing for Pacific Film & New Media Academy's acting program. He has taught workshops on composing for film, TV, and theatre for both Victoria Conservatory of Music and Kaleidoscope Theatre. He was also an artist in residence teaching theatre at Campus View Elementary through the Artstarts program.

I am proficient in sound designing and post-production tasks. I have expertise in DAWs such as Pro tools, Ableton, and Cubase. I use RX11 alongside other plugins to do audio editing works. I also have some experience with game sound integration with Wwise. I am passionate about Music, Audio, and Games.
