    Whatever the task, assignment, or topic, creative results are the goal. I thrive on the challenges of the freelance life and have dedicated my career to keeping things as exciting and diverse as possible. For over two decades, I've been the co-owner of the commercial and fine art photography studio, S&C Design Studios LLC. Working with my husband, Shannon, the studio's specialties include advertising, product, editorial, and beverage assignments. Black and white analog photography is our true creative passion. We spend hours in the darkroom printing and many more in the studio preparing artwork to show at galleries and art fairs. It's a chance to unplug and simply create, and it's a fantastic release. Since 2006, freelance writing has been a secondary career focus, though it does consume more of my time. It started with About.com, which has since morphed into DotDash Meredith, and The Spruce Eats has been my primary outlet for the past several years. My main topic of expertise is the beverage industry, which encompasses cocktails, distilled spirits, and bartending, and the no/low drink trend with its endless mocktail possibilities are particularly fascinating. I have also authored several cocktail books and work as a food and drink recipe developer, editor, and tester. It requires a lot of time in the kitchen, testing, tasting, and concocting (don't even get me started on the dishes), and it's all worth it! As a freelance editor, I understand SEO and how to write effectively for an online audience. Both offer unique challenges and a constant need to adapt to trends, algorithms, brand voice, and so much more. Beyond food and drinks, my main topics of interest follow a personal fondness for herbs, gardening, and art. However, I've also tackled a variety of subjects, including party planning, health, careers, general knowledge, and many more within the editorial and brand marketing/small business space. Essentially, no matter the topic at hand, it's all about creating the highest quality work possible and making sure it meets the deadline.
