John Vallely is an Irish screen composer, arranger and song-writer. He has worked on scores for television series, short films, advertisements, audiobooks and multimedia animated comics. Most recently, John co-composed the music for the Irish children’s animation series The Scavengers alongside award-winning Irish composer Jake Morgan. He was assistant composer to acclaimed Scottish composer Patrick Doyle (Harry Potter, Thor, Brave), preparing and arranging orchestral scores for the Netflix hit series Big Mouth. Starting his screen composing career in the world of comic books, John has collaborated with renowned comic book creators such as Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead), Jordan Thomas (Frank at Home on the Farm) and Clark Bint (Killtopia). Outside of composition for the screen, John also writes contemporary chamber music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and holds a Master's in Music from Queen's University Belfast, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The National University of Ireland Maynooth, a Performance Diploma from Trinity Guildhall on the classical guitar as well as having done further studies in music production at Point Blank Music School London. John is a member of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland. He is currently releasing a collection of piano works through Paragon Music Group.

I have over 25 years experience as a home music producer, mixing and mastering engineer. I have serviced many satisfied clients over that time. I am also an indie rock singer/songwriter, self recording and releasing 3 albums of original songs. I have extensive experience as a video editor. I am very proficient in both Cubase (Audio Production Software) and Final Cut Pro (Video Editing Software). I have produced many songs, music videos, event videos, concerts and commercial/industrial training videos. I can also convert old VHS/Betamax and Camcorder tapes to digital files and DVD. I have a strong knowledge of songwriting and arrangement, and graduated with a first class honours MA in songwriting from the University of Limerick in January 2023. I have vast live performance experience, playing hundreds of gigs. I also teach music production and guitar. I'm a musician and a writer. I have been playing piano for over 15 years and guitar for 6. I have extended musical experience (various genres) ranging from songwriting, production, mixing, music composition, piano composition, film scoring, and ad scoring. Hello there! I'm an Irish based multi-disciplinary artist, with a strong focus on all things music as a qualified multi-instrumentalist songwriter and sound engineer. I'm also vigilant poet and have always been passionate about writing. My instrument of choice is the guitar as I've over a decade of experience with the instrument. However, my understanding of music theory enabled me to put my hands to any instruments I've had access to. In my current studio I have access to - steel string acoustic guitars, classical nylon stringed guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, an AKAI MPK249 MIDI keyboard, electric keyboards, condenser and dynamic microphones, and a large library of virtual instruments. I'm trained with an in-depth knowledge of sound design and engineering. I write, produce, mix, and master music in a Digital Audio workshop (DAW) called Logic Pro X. I'm excited to expand my network and to continue collaborating on the creative works of others. I also offer lessons for guitar, music theory, and speaking english.
