Summary

We're a small business and we have a demand letter already drafted against our former CPA for professional negligence on not filing NYC taxes for 2022 and 2023. We need a licensed attorney to review it, make any necessary edits, advise on the statute of limitations, and sign off before it goes out. This is a focused, short projects with potential for future engagements. What we need: -Review our existing demand letter for legal accuracy, tone, and enforceability -Flag anything that weakens the demand or exposes us -Advise on the statute of limitations for a CPA professional negligence / breach claim and confirm we're within the window -Finalize and deliver the letter on your firm's letterhead, signed and ready to send Type of claim: CPA professional negligence. Our former accountant failed to file our NYC business entity returns (NYC-4S) for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023 despite asking about our liability several times via email, which triggered penalties and interest when we discovered this in 2026. He also made several other documented errors that required amended returns and forms across the city and state for multiple years. Damages: approximately $20,000 in penalties and interest, plus professional fees to remediate Our entity: New York S-Corp, based in New York, NY The CPA: a Pennsylvania-based firm (King of Prussia, PA). So there's a NY client / PA preparer cross-state element. A draft letter and full evidence trail already exist. We mainly need your legal eyes and a sign-off. Ideal candidate: -Licensed attorney in New York -Experience with professional malpractice, CPA/accountant negligence, or business disputes -Fast, clear communicator who can turn this around within 5 business days Please confirm your bar admission and state(s) of licensure in your proposal, and give a flat rate for the review, SOL advice, and finalized letter. Looking forward to working together!
