Summary

Project Overview I am looking for an experienced prototype developer, electronics engineer, robotics hobbyist, or product designer to build a physical AI-powered desktop Android Head prototype. This is NOT a full humanoid robot. This is a desktop AI companion head that sits on a desk or table and can see, hear, speak, connect to Wi-Fi, and receive future software updates. I have attached concept images showing the desired appearance and overall direction for the project. Primary Goal Build and ship a working prototype that can serve as the foundation for a future commercial product line. The prototype should be designed with future upgrades in mind, including: * Software updates * Additional facial expressions * Improved AI features * Future mobile body attachment * Future accessory expansion Prototype Requirements Physical Hardware * White 3D-printed shell inspired by attached concept images * Black acrylic front faceplate * Internal display behind faceplate for animated eyes and facial expressions * Camera integrated into face area * Microphone integrated into head * Speaker integrated into head * Raspberry Pi or comparable mini computer * Wi-Fi capability * Bluetooth capability * Power adapter for wall outlet operation * Rear access panel for maintenance and upgrades Facial Display The display should support: * Neutral face * Happy face * Thinking face * Curious face * Sleeping face * Additional expressions if possible The facial display does not need advanced animation initially, but should be expandable for future software updates. Connectivity * Wi-Fi * Bluetooth * USB access if needed * Remote software update capability preferred Software Requirements The goal is to prepare the prototype for future AI integration. Initial prototype should support: * Voice input * Voice output * Facial animations * Internet connectivity Future AI integration may use OpenAI or similar services. Customer Setup Experience A major goal of this project is making setup extremely simple. Desired customer experience: Step 1: Customer removes Nexus from the box. Step 2: Customer plugs Nexus into a wall outlet. Step 3: Nexus powers on automatically. Step 4: Customer connects Nexus to Wi-Fi. Step 5: Customer scans a QR code included in the box. Step 6: QR code opens setup page. Step 7: Customer creates or logs into an AI account. Step 8: Customer completes setup. Step 9: Nexus begins speaking and interacting. Target setup time: Less than 5 minutes. Future Product Vision This prototype is intended to become the first phase of a larger product roadmap. Phase 1: Desktop AI Companion Head Phase 2: Attachable mobile body/base Phase 3: Advanced mobility and expansion The prototype should be designed with future expansion in mind whenever practical. Deliverables * Physical prototype shipped to me * CAD files if available * Parts list * Wiring documentation * Setup documentation * Photos and videos of testing * Basic operating instructions Proposal Requirements Please include: * Relevant experience * Photos or videos of similar projects * Estimated timeline * Estimated parts cost * Suggestions for improving the design I am open to practical recommendations that help keep costs reasonable while delivering a functional prototype.
