Summary

I'm producing eyewear frames machined from natural stone on a 4-axis CNC. I have 3D geometry from professional laser scans (STEP files) and a machine with a standard G-code controller. I need an experienced CAM programmer to generate clean, verified toolpaths and output production-ready G-code for a single test frame. This is a paid test engagement. If output quality meets spec, there is ongoing work across additional frame designs. Scope of work Import provided STEP file and review geometry for machinability Define toolpaths for a single eyewear frame Select appropriate tooling strategy for brittle hard material (stone) Generate and verify G-code for a 4-axis setup with generic controller output Deliver documented toolpath file + G-code + brief notes on feeds/speeds rationale Requirements Demonstrated experience with 4-axis CAM programming — not just 3-axis Comfort with hard, brittle materials: stone, ceramic, glass, dental, or composites preferred Small-part precision experience: eyewear, jewelry, dental, or medical components Proficient in at least one major CAM package (Fusion 360, Mastercam, RhinoCAM, HSMWorks, etc.) Ability to output clean generic G-code Portfolio or work samples showing comparable complexity What I'll provide STEP file from professional laser scan Machine/tool specs and controller details Reference images of finished frame geometry Material data (stone type, hardness) To apply Include the following or your proposal will not be reviewed: CAM software you use and why you'd choose it for this job One example of hard material or small-part work you've programmed Your approach to toolpath strategy for a brittle material like stone Fixed price for the single-frame test
