Consumer Account Discrepancy Research & Dispute Correspondence Specialist

Summary

We’re looking for a detail-oriented researcher and writer experienced in reviewing consumer financial account records (credit cards, loans, lines of credit) to identify discrepancies between account agreements, statements, and what’s actually being reported, then drafting clear, well-documented correspondence to financial institutions and relevant regulatory channels requesting correction. This isn’t template-based work. Every case is different, and we need someone comfortable doing real analysis: reading cardholder/loan agreements, reconstructing statement math (interest, fees, payment allocation), comparing what’s reported against actual account activity, and pinpointing exactly where something doesn’t reconcile. You should be comfortable: • Reviewing account agreements and statements to identify rate, fee, or balance calculation discrepancies • Drafting detailed written dispute correspondence that cites the specific discrepancy, not generic “this is wrong” language • Requesting supporting documentation from institutions: signed agreement copies, transaction histories, and electronic signature/authentication records (timestamps, device, IP information) when account ownership or authorization is in question • Escalating unresolved matters through appropriate channels (including CFPB) when a response doesn’t address the documented discrepancy • Adjusting approach based on each client’s specific circumstances, hardship situations, timing issues, life events, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all process Experience with consumer protection frameworks (FCRA, TILA, Regulation Z, FCBA) is highly preferred. Strong written communication is essential, this work is correspondence-heavy and needs to be precise, professional, and persuasive. This is an ongoing role with multiple active cases. Please share relevant experience reviewing financial statements or drafting dispute correspondence in your application.
