Summary

We are a fast-growing ecommerce group (two consumer product brands, importing from Asia) looking to engage an experienced US customs attorney or licensed trade compliance professional, starting immediately. The immediate matter: US Customs has detained one of our containers and opened a Right to Make Entry (RTME) inquiry into our companies as importers of record. The underlying issue relates to our founders being non-US residents and our entities using a registered agent address. We have a legitimate, substantial US operation (inventory, 3PL fulfillment, US banking, established import history) and need a professional to present that properly and resolve the inquiry quickly. Scope of work: Review the CBP correspondence and advise on our response strategy Assemble and review our documentation package before submission Liaise directly with our customs broker and CBP on our behalf Advise on structuring imports correctly going forward (separate entries per entity, POA cleanup, bond review) Potential ongoing role as trade compliance counsel as we scale import volume Required experience: US customs law: Importer of record requirements, RTME inquiries, detentions, entry procedures Nonresident importer situations (foreign-owned US companies) Direct experience corresponding with CBP ports and Fines, Penalties & Forfeitures offices Fast, responsive communication is essential. Full details shared under engagement. Please include: your relevant RTME/detention experience, whether you are a licensed attorney or customs broker, your hourly rate, and your availability this week.
