Email Automation Setup

We're launching a multi-email customer communication sequence for a software subscription transition in a niche trade industry. Copy is being handled in-house. What we need is someone to build and manage the technical backend: platform setup, automation flows, segmentation, and deliverability. We're a small, lean team with simple needs - a handful of sequenced emails to a few customer segments, not complex multi-step funnels. Please recommend a cost-effective platform suited to this (think Mailchimp, MailerLite, Brevo, or similar) rather than defaulting to a premium tool like ActiveCampaign or Klaviyo, which would be overkill and expensive for what we need. We're also open to strategic input on best practice - sequencing, timing, segmentation logic, but we can own the copywriting if needed.
