Full Stack Founding Engineer

Senior Full-Stack Developer (Independent Contractor) - EdTech/HealthTech SaaS We're a fast-growing UK EdTech and HealthTech company serving 300+ schools, with clinical services in progress. We're looking for an experienced, independent full-stack developer to work hands-on across our products and help us bring more engineering capability in-house. This is an ongoing contract role for an individual contractor, not an agency. You'd be working directly with me (founder/CEO) and our wider technical team. Our stack: Primary (our main platform and the direction we're heading): TypeScript across front and back end Vue.js (frontend) Node.js with Elysia (backend) Supabase (Postgres) Vercel functions, GitHub Actions HubSpot API integrations Secondary (an established product we maintain and plan to migrate onto the stack above): PHP / Laravel 12 MySQL, AWS S3 Linux VPS hosting, deployments via Envoyer Wonde (school MIS) integrations What you'd be doing: Building and maintaining features across our Vue/TypeScript/Node platform. Keeping our Laravel product healthy, and over time helping migrate it onto our modern JS/Vue stack. Working cleanly with our infrastructure and deployment pipelines, and helping us hold and document that knowledge in-house. Integrations work (HubSpot, Wonde, and others as they come up). Who we're looking for: Genuinely senior and self-directed. You can own work end to end without close supervision. Strong in TypeScript, Vue and Node. Comfortable in PHP/Laravel for maintenance, and ideally interested in leading a migration away from it. Solid with Postgres/MySQL and modern CI/CD (GitHub Actions). Clear communicator who can explain technical tradeoffs to a non-technical founder in plain terms. An individual contractor available on an ongoing basis, UK or UK-friendly timezone preferred. Bonus: Experience with DigitalOcean and Kubernetes (we run a managed cluster). Background working with sensitive data (we're ISO 27001 certified, with clinical/health data and CQC registration in progress). You've worked inside a company moving from agency-built to in-house engineering.
