Instructional Designer (Immersive Safety Training)

At Pixaera, we're building the future of safety training through immersive learning experiences that combine learning science, storytelling, and interactive technology. We're looking for an experienced Freelance Instructional Designer who can help us rapidly scale the production of short-form safety learning modules. This is an opportunity to create engaging, scenario-based training that moves beyond traditional eLearning and helps frontline workers make better decisions in high-risk environments. You'll work closely with our content and learning teams to design: - Learning from Incidents (LFI) micro-learning modules - Story-driven safety training experiences - Interactive hazard-awareness scenarios - Scene-by-scene learning designs that can be developed into immersive digital experiences - Knowledge checks and reinforcement activities grounded in learning science Our best modules combine strong instructional design with compelling narratives, realistic workplace situations, and meaningful learner choices. We're specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate: - Strong scenario and narrative design skills for adult learners - Experience creating branching stories, decision points, and consequence-driven learning - Solid instructional design fundamentals, including learning objectives, assessment design, and retention strategies - A portfolio of interactive learning experiences (not just slide-based training) - Ability to produce complete learning modules in days rather than weeks
