Summary

Title: Japanese-Native Short-Form Video Editor — Monthly Retainer — Vertical Social Content (CapCut) NOTE: all footage will be shot in JAPAN with Japanese speaking people. No translation needed. — About us We're a premium supplement brand launching in Japan. Our content engine runs on high-volume short-form vertical video — TikTok Japan, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, LINE/Twitter. We're not a polished corporate brand. We're a playful, fast-moving startup that lives in the iPhone-shot, CapCut-edited, native-feeling content space. We're looking for one person to take ownership of this content stream on a month-to-month retainer, starting late July 2026 and ongoing. — Two ways you can apply Option A — Solo Editor You're a Japanese-native editor who can personally output up to 150 short-form assets per month. You work alone, you work fast, you own the full output. Option B — Production Manager + Editor You're a Japanese-native editor who'd rather operate as a production manager — you handle our briefs and direct one or two additional editors under you, while still hands-on editing a portion of the assets yourself. Your edit team, your call. We pay you the same retainer, you manage the sub-editors out of it. Either works for us. Let us know which model you're proposing in your application. — The work You'll receive a full shoot day's worth of footage (iPhone-shot, vertical) dropped into a Google Drive folder, along with a clear brief — what the videos should be, what hooks to use, which clips to pull from. Your job is to turn that raw footage into many short-form assets, fast. - Format: vertical 9:16, optimised for TikTok, Reels, Shorts - Length: 7-45 seconds per asset, mostly 15-30s - Volume target: up to 150 finished assets per month, sourced from 4-8 shoot days - Editing style: simple cuts, basic transitions, on-screen Japanese captions, light SFX, hook-first structure - Captioning: Japanese subtitles required on most assets (native level — non-negotiable) - File naming: clean and consistent, following our naming convention (we'll provide) - Turnaround: per-brief deadline and constant output as we are posting daily, so averaging 5 x assets per day (150 assets divided by 30 days in the month) — Editing workflow — flexible but lean Primary tools: CapCut + Instagram Edits (the iPhone app). These are the workflow we'll mostly lean on because the content style is native and fast — not polished commercial work. That said, we're open to a dual workflow if it makes your life easier. The founder leading this side of the business has a decade of experience in commercial directing and filmmaking, and will help design a clean, simplified workflow with you on Day 1. If you prefer to make selects and organise footage in DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere before finishing in CapCut, that's completely fine — we'll set it up to suit you. The key constraint isn't the tool, it's the speed and the native aesthetic. We don't want over-polished, broadcast-feeling content. We want fast, raw, algorithm-native edits at volume. — What we're NOT looking for - This is NOT high-end creative editing. No motion graphics, no After Effects builds, no colour grading sessions, no brand film work. - This is NOT a creative director role. Briefs come with hook + structure + reference. Your job is execution at volume. — What we ARE looking for - Japanese-native speaker (essential — for captioning, cultural feel, hook timing) - Good written English (you'll receive briefs and feedback in English) - Strong working knowledge of CapCut and/or Instagram Edits - Fast turnaround — you (or your team) can produce 15-25 assets from a single shoot day's footage - Native feel for what works on Japanese TikTok and Reels — you watch this content, you know the trends, you understand JP comedic timing and algorithm dynamics - Reliable, organised, communicates proactively when something is unclear or behind schedule - Comfortable working off Google Drive + Slack for briefing and feedback — The arrangement - 100% remote - Month-to-month retainer - Budget: USD $1,200/month (approximate and will negotiate) - Start date: late July 2026 - First month is a paid trial period for both sides — if it clicks, we continue monthly. If not, clean exit either way. - Long-term partnership preferred — we're looking for someone who grows with the brand as content demands and budget increases — Optional add-on — Social Media Manager We're separately considering a small additional retainer for a social media manager — same person or different person, your call. This role is light operational lift only: - Scheduling bulk uploads via a scheduling tool (Later, Metricool, or equivalent) - Posting per platform-specific schedules we provide - Comment replies (we'll provide voice and tone guidelines + templates for common questions) - DM management (basic triage + template replies, escalating anything complex to us) NOT included in this role: content strategy, creative input, paid ads, influencer management, analytics reporting. It's purely operational execution. If you'd like to take this on as well, mention it in your application and quote a separate monthly rate for it. Or if you only want the editing role, that's completely fine. — To apply Send us: 1. 3-5 examples of short-form vertical content you've edited (links to TikTok / Reels / YouTube Shorts preferred — show us your style, not a reel) 2. Which model you're proposing: Solo Editor (Option A) or Production Manager + Team (Option B) 3. A 2-3 sentence note on what JP short-form content you watch + which creators inspire your editing style 4. Confirmation you're Japanese-native and have good written English 5. Optional: if you want the social media manager add-on too, quote a monthly rate for it Applications without items 1-5 will be passed over. We'll shortlist quickly and run a paid test edit before locking in the retainer. — Looking forward to hearing from you.
