I'm building cinemabhs - a faceless YouTube channel covering the on-set decisions, auditions, and behind-the-scenes stories that shaped the greatest films and TV shows ever made. Think analytical film documentary, not celebrity gossip or reaction content. I need an experienced video editor for 1-2 videos per week, long-term. Benchmark channels - please watch before applying: Knanuel - youtube.com/@Knanuel ScreenPuff - youtube.com/@ScreenPuff Benjamin Vomastek - youtube.com/@BenjaminVomastek HollywoodConfidential - youtube.com/@HollywoodConfidential FilmStack - youtube.com/@FilmStack What the role involves: Edit complete 10-18 minute videos from voiceover audio and a two-column script with clip direction Source and assemble film clips, archival interview footage, and images with motion - stock footage avoided Apply the 80/20 rule: 80% of editorial attention on the first 60 seconds, first 30 seconds must be perfect Execute pacing as a rollercoaster - fast cuts in the hook, modulated rhythm through the body, long holds at emotional beats Colour grade to a consistent cinematic identity across all videos Music from Epidemic Sound only - mapped to story beats, not used as background Requirements: Proven YouTube editing experience, documentary or essay format specifically Proficient in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro Understands fair use - knows the 7-second rule and clip modification techniques Able to apply Ken Burns motion to all images - no static frames 72-hour turnaround: rough cut first, final within 24 hours of notes 1080p minimum, 4K preferred, subtitles included Rate: $60-90 per completed video, rising to $90-120 for consistently high-retention edits. Bonus for videos exceeding 100,000 views. If shortlisted, a paid trial edit will be commissioned before any ongoing commitment. Your application must include: 2 links to YouTube videos you have edited in a documentary or essay format Your editing software and colour grading approach One sentence on what you noticed about the benchmark channels and what you would do differently Portfolios without relevant editing samples will not be reviewed.
