OpenCorporates API Expert Needed
Worldwide
OpenCorporates API Expert Needed for Company Ownership & Relationship Mapping Project We are looking for one experienced OpenCorporates/API research expert to help with a public-data research project involving approximately 8,000 companies. The goal is to look up companies, identify available ownership/officer/relationship information, verify findings from public sources, and organize the results into a clear company/person relationship map. This is a short-term project starting this weekend. The work can move quickly with the right person, but accuracy and compliance are more important than speed alone. We are looking to make strong progress over the coming days. Project Overview We are working with a list of approximately 8,000 company records. For each company, we need help researching and organizing publicly available information such as: OpenCorporates company records Company identifiers/entity IDs Officers, owners, managers, members, governors, or related people where publicly available Related companies Parent/subsidiary or affiliated entities where publicly available Shared officers, shared addresses, shared ownership indicators, or other public relationship signals Source links and evidence for each connection The end result should help us understand how companies and people are connected to each other. For example: Person A is connected to Company X Person A is also connected to Company Y Company Y appears connected to Company Z through a shared officer, address, filing, or other public record Unclear or weak matches should be marked as uncertain rather than forced We want the work done carefully, honestly, and with clear source documentation. Ideal Candidate We are specifically looking for someone with strong experience using: OpenCorporates OpenCorporates API Public company registries Corporate ownership/officer research Entity matching and deduplication Relationship mapping between people and companies Data cleaning and structured research workflows Experience with graph-style relationship mapping is strongly preferred. Helpful tools/skills may include: OpenCorporates API access and API workflow experience Python, R, SQL, Airtable, Google Sheets, or similar tools Gephi, Neo4j, Graphistry, Kumu, Maltego, or other network-mapping tools Experience working with CSV/JSON/API outputs Ability to build a repeatable process for checking thousands of companies Important Compliance Requirement This project must be done using lawful, compliant, and ethical methods only. The selected freelancer must follow all applicable OpenCorporates terms, API rules, rate limits, licensing requirements, and data-use restrictions. We are not looking for scraping, bypassing rate limits, account workarounds, or any method that violates OpenCorporates rules or public-record source terms. Please only apply if you understand how to work with public corporate data responsibly and can document sources clearly. What We Need Done The freelancer will help: Review approximately 8,000 company records Match companies to the correct OpenCorporates/entity records Identify officers, owners, managers, members, or other connected people where available Identify related companies and relationship signals Avoid false matches when people have similar names Mark uncertain results clearly instead of guessing Provide source links or source references for each verified connection Create a clean structured output that can be reviewed and reused Help design a repeatable process for this work Accuracy Expectations We care more about correct, defensible research than aggressive guessing. For unclear records, we want the freelancer to: Leave the field blank when the connection cannot be verified Mark the result as uncertain when evidence is weak Note why a match may or may not be correct Avoid assuming two people are the same person just because they share a name Double-check important matches against available public records Keep source links and evidence attached to the result Deliverables Expected deliverables may include: Clean spreadsheet or database of researched companies OpenCorporates/entity IDs where available People connected to each company Related companies and relationship types Source links or source references Notes for uncertain or unresolved matches Optional relationship/network diagram or export suitable for visualization The final format can be discussed, but it should be organized, structured, and easy to verify. Requirements Must have real experience with OpenCorporates or similar public company registry tools Must understand API-based research workflows Must be comfortable working with thousands of records Must be highly detail-oriented Must be able to explain how they will avoid false positives Must be able to document sources Must be available to start this weekend Must follow OpenCorporates/API rules and public-data usage requirements To Apply Please include: Your experience with OpenCorporates, company registry research, or corporate ownership research Whether you already have OpenCorporates API access or experience working with its API Your relevant technical background, including tools you use for API/data/relationship mapping work Examples of similar public-data, ownership research, entity-matching, or relationship-mapping projects you have completed We are hiring quickly. Only apply if you can work carefully, follow public-data/API rules, start this weekend, and help make strong progress over the coming days.
