Travel & Documentary Content Assistant / Assembly Video Editor I'm looking for a detail-oriented Assembly Editor / Story Assistant to help organize and build travel, documentary-style, and informational YouTube content from footage I provide. This is not primarily a social media Shorts, Reels, or viral editing role. I'm looking for someone who understands storytelling, pacing, organization, audience engagement, and long-form content. Project Scope & Budget The posted budget is intended for an initial test project and rough-cut evaluation. Project requirements, footage volume, complexity, turnaround time, and deliverables may vary from project to project. Future projects may be priced higher or lower depending on scope, workload, and agreed-upon responsibilities. The goal is to find a reliable editor who can assist with footage organization, rough cuts, story flow, and timeline assembly. Successful projects may lead to ongoing work and expanded responsibilities. My Role: • Project Manager • Lead Editor • Final Creative Approval • Voiceover and Content Direction **Primary Responsibilities (Most Important)** • Organize raw footage • Review clips and identify usable content • Remove dead space and unnecessary footage • Remove mistakes, pauses, and distractions • Build rough cuts and timelines • Follow provided notes, hooks, outlines, and video objectives • Trim or stabilize shaky footage when appropriate **Secondary Responsibilities** • Arrange clips into a logical story flow • Trim or stabilize shaky footage when appropriate • Arrange clips into a logical story flow • Follow provided notes, hooks, outlines, and video objectives • Add simple transitions when needed • Create clean, organized deliverables • Assist with pacing and audience retention • Use subtle zooms, reframing, cropping, and camera movement techniques when appropriate to maintain viewer engagement and visual interest Optional Skills: • Audio cleanup and balancing • Sound effects and ambient audio • Subtitle creation • Basic color correction • Background music selection • Travel vlog or documentary editing experience Requirements: • Reliable high-speed internet connection • Modern Windows or Mac computer • Experience with professional editing software • Strong communication skills • Attention to detail • Ability to follow creative direction • Ability to meet deadlines Creative Direction: Creative suggestions are welcome and encouraged. However, the editor should be comfortable working within an established vision, outline, script, or video angle. The editor may suggest improvements to pacing, organization, storytelling, and viewer retention, but final creative direction, messaging, and content decisions remain with the Project Manager / Lead Editor. Initial Test Project: • Approximately 15-30 minutes of raw footage • Goal is to create an organized rough cut / assembly edit • Expected final length approximately 8-15 minutes • Successful completion may lead to additional projects This is initially a project-based opportunity but may lead to ongoing work for the right person.
