Production Assistant / Junior Filmmaker The California Capital Film Office is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Production Assistant / Filmmaker to assist with a variety of documentary, commercial, corporate, and video production projects throughout the Sacramento region. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent film school graduate, media studies graduate, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of film and video production. The position offers the chance to work directly on documentaries, promotional videos, interviews, event coverage, and other real-world productions while learning from experienced filmmakers. Responsibilities Assist with video shoots on location and in studio settings Set up and break down camera, lighting, and audio equipment Operate cameras and production equipment when needed Assist with interview setups and documentary productions Organize media files and project assets Provide general production support before, during, and after shoots Assist with video editing and post-production projects Perform occasional production-related administrative tasks Desired Qualifications Basic knowledge of camera operation (Blackmagic Mini cameras a plus) Understanding of basic lighting techniques Familiarity with audio recording equipment Basic video editing experience (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar) Strong organizational skills Reliable transportation Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as production schedules require
