We're building Coconut, a consumer finance app focused on helping people better understand and manage their spending. We're looking for a strong React Native developer who can take polished Figma designs and turn them into production-quality mobile experiences. This is a part-time contract role with the potential for ongoing work. We'll start with a small paid trial project before committing to a longer engagement. What You'll Do Build and ship features in a React Native + Expo application Convert Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive mobile UI Integrate APIs, authentication flows, and backend services Handle loading states, error states, edge cases, and performance optimization Test on real iOS and Android devices Work asynchronously with founders and provide clear progress updates Leverage AI tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.) to move quickly while maintaining high code quality Required Experience Strong React Native experience with Expo TypeScript expo-router Experience shipping apps on both iOS and Android Familiarity with EAS builds and Expo Dev Client Strong UI implementation skills (layout, typography, spacing, design systems) Experience integrating REST APIs and authentication Comfortable building performant lists and smooth mobile interactions Daily use of Cursor, Claude, or similar AI coding tools Ability to review, validate, and take ownership of AI-generated code Nice to Have Stripe integrations Next.js API routes Supabase / Postgres Plaid integrations Clerk authentication Push notifications Jest, Playwright, or mobile E2E testing Experience publishing apps to the App Store and Google Play Store Engagement Part-time contract Hourly or milestone-based compensation Small paid trial project before ongoing engagement Fully remote and async-friendly English communication required
