CFO/Controller

The CFO/Controller – Client Services will serve as a trusted advisor and financial leader for a portfolio of client companies. This role involves delivering fractional CFO and controller-level support, including financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, budgeting, and strategic financial guidance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional with strong client communication skills and a background in outsourced or fractional finance roles. Key Responsibilities Client Financial Leadership · Act as the outsourced CFO or Controller for multiple client companies. · Develop and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to client stakeholders. · Provide strategic financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting for client businesses. · Advise clients on cash flow planning, profitability, pricing, and financial risk management. Accounting Oversight & Advisory · Oversee the accuracy of client financial records prepared by bookkeepers. · Manage or review month-end close processes, reconciliations, and journal entries. · Ensure compliance with GAAP or applicable accounting standards for each client. Business Performance & Analysis · Analyze and interpret financial results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. · Provide clients with operational and financial KPIs and help drive improvements. · Support client decision-making with scenario planning and financial modeling. Team Collaboration · Collaborate with internal accounting staff and bookkeepers to deliver high-quality results. · Serve as a mentor and leader to junior staff working on client accounts. · Coordinate with clients’ tax professionals, auditors, or legal counsel as needed. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. · 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 2 years in a controller or CFO role. · Experience working in outsourced accounting, fractional CFO services, or in public accounting with client-facing responsibilities. · Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting. · Ability to manage multiple client relationships and prioritize effectively. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting to executives and business owners. · Proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, or similar platforms. Preferred Attributes · Experience working with clients in diverse industries such as SaaS, professional services, law firms, eCommerce, etc. · Skilled in creating dashboards, KPI reports, and financial models. · Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
