WorldPress/PHP Developer for EpsilonX
Worldwide
🌏 Project EpsilonX — WordPress Developer (Remote, Project-Based) EpsilonX is a lab-to-market initiative bridging world-class scientists and PhD researchers at UC San Diego with industry builders, capital, and operators. We work at the frontier of AI, from computer vision to agentic engineering, translating cutting-edge research into real-world applications inside institutions and heavily regulated markets. Think defense, healthcare, infrastructure, compliance. The work is serious, the problems are hard, and the people you'll work alongside are exceptional. We're building the translation layer between deep science and the real world. That work lives on the web, and it has to load fast, work flawlessly, and reflect the credibility of the people behind it. That is where you come in. What We're Looking For We hire builders with taste. You don't need a degree, you need a portfolio of shipped sites that speaks louder than credentials and the hunger to do work that matters. You move fast, take ownership end-to-end, and treat a brief the way a good engineer treats a spec: with rigor, curiosity, and a bias toward shipping clean. You read the entire scope before you start, you flag what is missing instead of guessing, and you do not leave loose ends. You use AI tools to work smarter, not slower. You are comfortable with ambiguity and you turn it into working code. If you have been waiting for a project where your work actually ships and actually matters, this is it. What You'll Do You'll own the development and upkeep of EpsilonX's web properties and the client sites we build and maintain across regulated industries. Specifically: Diagnose and fix issues on launched WordPress sites: layout and responsive bugs, plugin conflicts, broken forms and links, performance problems, and cross-browser issues Build and customize WordPress themes, templates, and components, translating designs into clean, responsive, performant builds Set up and troubleshoot forms, lead capture, and tracking (GA4, Google Tag Manager, conversion pixels) Optimize for speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO-friendly structure Keep code clean, documented, and version-controlled, and QA thoroughly before anything goes live Work to a defined scope, surface risks early, and deliver without surprises Bring AI-assisted development into your workflow wherever it adds speed without sacrificing quality What You Bring Required Strong WordPress development experience: custom themes, templates, plugins, and PHP Solid PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript A proven track record debugging and fixing issues on live, launched sites Responsive and cross-browser expertise Comfort with common page builders and plugin ecosystems (Elementor, Divi, Gravity Forms, WP Rocket, and similar) Clean, documented code and disciplined QA; version control with Git Excellent, responsive async communication. You are remote, so clarity is non-negotiable A portfolio of WordPress sites you have shipped or fixed Nice to Have Webflow, Shopify, or HubSpot CMS experience Performance optimization and caching (WP Rocket, Cloudflare, CDN) Analytics and tracking implementation (GA4, GTM, conversion pixels) Experience with regulated-industry sites (healthcare, finance, compliance): accessibility, security, and content-review awareness A design sensibility and the ability to take a Figma file to a pixel-accurate build AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) Degree not required. University students and self-taught builders are strongly encouraged to apply. Show us the work. Confidentiality You will work on client websites and pre-launch builds. Discretion is essential, and an NDA is required before any access is granted. We protect our clients, and we expect you to as well. Engagement Structure This starts as a project-based engagement with a defined scope, real deadlines, and real deliverables, beginning with a focused batch of fixes on a live site. If the collaboration works, there is a clear path to an ongoing retainer and a long-term role as EpsilonX and its client work scale. We reward people who show up with ownership and grow with the work.
