Working with 1500mm Ducted Fan CFD Study
Worldwide
Project Objective Perform a comprehensive CFD study of a 1,500 mm coaxial ducted fan in ANSYS Fluent using the Actuator Disk approach to represent the rotor system. The analysis should accurately predict thrust, torque, pressure recovery, and overall aerodynamic performance, enabling direct comparison with existing experimental bench-test data. Scope of Work Develop or refine a clean and watertight 3D CAD model of the duct, spinner, and hub geometry. Rotor blades will be represented using an actuator disk rather than explicit blade geometry. Generate a high-quality computational mesh with sufficient near-wall resolution to capture boundary-layer effects within the duct while minimizing numerical diffusion in the downstream wake region. Select and justify an appropriate turbulence model based on the flow characteristics and performance objectives of the ducted fan. Conduct steady-state simulations as the primary analysis approach. If convergence behavior or flow characteristics indicate significant unsteadiness, perform additional transient simulations to capture time-dependent effects. Post-process the results to produce detailed velocity, pressure, and streamline visualizations, together with integrated performance metrics including thrust, torque, pressure recovery, and aerodynamic efficiency. Deliver a concise technical report (PDF) documenting modeling assumptions, boundary conditions, solver settings, mesh independence verification, validation methodology, and key findings. Provide all project files, including Fluent mesh (.msh), case and data files (.cas, .dat), Workbench archive (.wbpz), and any supplementary scripts used for automation or post-processing (e.g., Python or Scheme)
