Build backlinks for a severe-weather website (white-hat SEO strategies only)
Worldwide
I am hiring someone to build backlinks for a severe weather–tracking website. PROJECT GOAL: The goal is to build legitimate, relevant backlinks that boost the organic rankings + traffic for the website, while complying with search engine policies in this area. IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES: The ideal candidate will have the following attributes: 1) experience building relevant, high-quality links (especially using strategies that do not require direct payments to webmasters/publishers); 2) a deep knowledge of search-engine policies and best-practices; 3) a comprehensive understanding of what link-building practices are prohibited by search engines, considered link spam, etc, so these can be *avoided* in your link-building efforts; 4) technical SEO knowledge and experience; 5) an understanding of the different types of internet links, and which categories of links provide more of less link-juice, rank-boosting potential, etc; IMPORTANT LINK-BUILDING NOTE: **I am not interested in any link-building strategies that require placement fees or direct payments to the webmasters/publishers.** There are 2 main reasons for that: 1) I believe this is a violation of search-engine policies in this area, especially when the links are not marked rel="sponsored"; 2) From a cost-effectiveness standpoint, making such supplementary payments on top of what will be paid for the link-building efforts is outside of the project budget for this website. PAYMENT / COMPENSATION DETAILS: Please include your desired hourly compensation rate in your application. This will be compared against your recent Upwork project history. If I'm happy with the results of your initial efforts, this role has the potential to be long-term. APPLICATION DETAILS: Please include the following in your application to this posting: 1) your relevant expertise in this field versus what we're seeking; 2) your desired hourly compensation rate for this work; 3) your big-picture link-building action-plan that you would follow for this website; 4) the specific link-building strategies you utilize; 5) clear proof that you understand what sort of link-spam worst-practices should be avoided in your link-building efforts, so your efforts are not counter-productive and don't get our website penalized by the search engines. WEBSITE DETAILS: The website you'll be building links for is a severe weather tracking website. The way the website works is, users are able to track severe weather events across the United States, relative to their location. The webpages feature an interactive map that includes live precipitation/storm radar, as well as live National Weather Service alert polygons placed onto the map for a large variety of severe weather categories (including tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flooding, tropical storms, dust storms, wildfires, ice storms, and basically any other type of severe weather event the NWS issues alerts for.) The website is oriented around location-specific tracking, meaning the severe weather events are rank-ordered in terms of proximity to the user's location (ie, city/town, county, or zip code) so they're aware of what threats are most imminent/relevant. The site also allows users to set up customized alarms that play a loud siren sound if their specified weather events come within a specified distance of their specific, tracked location -- thus allowing users to have advance notice if certain severe weather events (eg, Tornado Warnings) are nearby their location, so they can prepare and take appropriate precautionary/responsive action. WHAT MAKES THIS WEBSITE LINK-WORTHY / WHAT LINKABLE ASSETS EXIST FOR THIS SITE?: Since the goal is to pursue link-building strategies that don't require direct payments / placement fees, a natural question you might have is: "Ok, so what makes this site worth linking to / what linkable assets does the website have?" Currently the biggest thing it has going for it is... the website is entirely free to use. It's also browser-based, so users don't need to download an app on their phone; they can just pull it up in any browser tab and use it as needed. Other comparable sites may be expensive to use, OR they may have a bunch of extremely annoying advertisements plastered all over the website and wasting your time and distracting you and covering up the vital information on the webpage when you're potentially trying to keep tabs on life threatening severe weather events. The website is also not cluttered like other similar such websites that may have 15 different styles of radar and all sorts of complicated options and settings; it's designed to be deliberately streamlined around facilitating the one core objective of allowing specific individuals to track severe weather impacting/near their location while also alerting them + sounding an alarm for relevant weather threats near them. That simplified focus and differentiation vs. the other websites/tools in this space could also potentially make the website worth writing about, mentioning, and linking to. In the near future there is a plan to create additional linkable assets, including: 1) forecasting pages (ie, instead of "what severe weather is happening NOW", such pages will instead answer the question of "what severe weather is likely to impact your region in the near future"); 2) articles/research pieces on interesting severe weather related statistics; 3) and other stuff like that. For now however, we really just have: the website itself -- which works, is functional, and actually works quite well for the specific, intended purposes. If you're confident in your ability to build backlinks for this website, using white-hat strategies, given its description and functionality, I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!
