Summary

Junior Solicitor / Legal Correspondence Associate (UK). You must have at least three years qualified legal practice. Lumify Energy supports landowners involved in renewable energy projects across the UK. Our mission is to ensure landowners are treated fairly, understand their contractual position, and are not left at a disadvantage when dealing with developers and operators. Our work involves reviewing leases and agreements, analysing project and payment information, challenging positions taken by counterparties where appropriate, and helping progress matters in a strategic, commercially sensible way. We are analytical, values-led, and focused on delivering clarity, fairness, and practical outcomes. The Opportunity We are seeking a legally trained **Junior Solicitor or Legal Correspondence Associate** to support the progression of a portfolio of live matters involving renewable energy developments and landowner agreements. This will be 10 hours a week ongoing. This is not a traditional fee-earning legal role and does not involve independently conducting litigation or providing reserved legal services. Instead, the role focuses on contract interpretation, strategic correspondence, issue spotting, matter management, and helping ensure matters continue to move forward efficiently. The position would suit someone looking for intellectually engaging legal work without the demands of a conventional full-time legal practice. Key Responsibilities * Review leases, option agreements, easements, and related contractual documents. * Identify relevant clauses, obligations, rights, and potential areas of dispute. * Draft and manage day-to-day correspondence with developers, operators, agents, and other counterparties. * Assist in rebutting positions taken by counterparties where inconsistent with contractual terms, facts, or broader legal context. * Prepare concise written summaries and recommendations for Lumify's leadership team. * Provide regular progress updates across active matters. * Follow up outstanding issues and maintain momentum on ongoing cases. * Escalate matters appropriately when issues become highly technical, strategic, or contentious. * Assist in developing internal templates, processes, and legal playbooks. * Collaborate closely with technical and commercial colleagues to ensure correspondence is accurate, robust, and commercially sensible. Requirements * Legal training with practical legal experience. * Ability to read and interpret contracts and leases confidently. * Excellent drafting skills and clear written communication in plain UK business English. * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Commercial awareness and sound judgement. * Comfortable managing multiple live matters and prioritising effectively. * Professional, calm, and persistent when dealing with challenging or unresponsive counterparties. * Able to communicate legal risk, options, and next steps clearly to non-lawyers. Ideal Background We would particularly like to hear from: * Junior solicitors with experience in commercial contracts, property, disputes, or litigation support. * Former associates seeking flexible consulting work. * In-house legal professionals looking for part-time opportunities. * Legally qualified professionals returning from parental leave, career breaks, or sabbaticals. * Non-practising solicitors with strong drafting and correspondence experience. Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous: * Property law * Commercial contracts * Landlord and tenant matters * Dispute resolution * Infrastructure projects * Renewable energy or utilities Important Notes This role is focused on correspondence, contract interpretation, matter progression, and legal support. It is **not** intended to involve independently conducting litigation or providing reserved legal services. We welcome applications from candidates who are not currently practising, provided they are legally trained, capable, and understand the boundaries of the role. To Apply Please include: 1. A brief summary of your legal background. Including details of qualifications, et cetera. 2. Relevant experience with contracts, property, disputes, or correspondence-heavy legal work. 3. Your availability (hours per week) 4. Your preferred hourly rate. 5. An example of a complex matter you helped progress through written correspondence and strategic follow-up.
