# Video Editor Recruitment Brief ## For MK Media’s ----- ## THE ROLE We’re looking for a **video editor** to help build a new YouTube channel focused on **true-crime style crypto heists and hacking stories**. This is a **test partnership** starting with 1–2 videos to ensure we’re aligned on style, quality, and workflow. If it works well, this could develop into a **long-term ongoing partnership**. ----- ## WHAT WE’RE BUILDING **Channel Focus:** Cinematic storytelling around real-world hacking incidents and cryptocurrency theft **Video Length:** 10–12 minutes per episode **Style Reference:** We have specific examples of the visual style we’re targeting (see below) **Production Volume:** Starting with 1–2 test videos; if successful, moving toward ongoing regular uploads ----- ## YOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES ### 1. **Source & Create Visuals** - Find publicly available footage, news clips, screenshots, and B-roll relevant to each story - Create custom animations and motion graphics to explain technical concepts and timelines - Build visual infographics (transaction flows, fund recovery timelines, character timelines, etc.) - Use imagery from public blockchain explorers, news sources, official announcements, and Reddit discussions - Maintain visual consistency across episodes (color grading, animation style, font choices) ### 2. **Voice-Over Integration** - We will provide either a **full voice-over recording** or a **script** for you to produce - If we provide a script, we’ll **discuss and agree on a voice** together (ElevenLabs, professional VA, or other) before you begin editing - Sync voiceover with visuals at a natural, engaging pace - Build tension and pacing through audio-visual timing ### 3. **Custom Animations** - Explain complex technical concepts (smart contracts, blockchain vulnerabilities, transaction mechanics) through motion graphics - Create animated timelines showing the chronology of events - Build visual representations of data flows (money moving between wallets, fund recovery) - Design lower-thirds, title cards, and visual chapter breaks ### 4. **Color Grading & Style** - Establish a consistent visual look across episodes - Balance documentary authenticity with cinematic quality - Maintain readability for text overlays and graphics ----- ## REQUIRED TOOLS & SKILLS **Software (Required):** - **DaVinci Resolve** OR **Adobe Premiere Pro** (with proficiency in motion graphics/animation) - Ability to create or integrate custom animations - Color grading experience **Skills:** - Video editing for narrative/documentary style content - Motion graphics and animation (at least intermediate level) - Visual storytelling through pacing and timing - Ability to work from a detailed brief and execute feedback efficiently - Understanding of how to explain technical concepts visually **Nice-to-Have:** - Experience with cryptocurrency/blockchain content - Understanding of true-crime documentary style - Experience with faceless YouTube channels ----- ## WORKFLOW PROCESS ### For Each Video: **Step 1: You Receive the Brief** - Full voice-over recording (or script + agreed-upon voice selection) - Detailed background document with, depending on video: - Links to blockchain explorers and transaction data - News sources and quotes - Reddit discussions - Technical research papers - Act-by-act breakdown with pacing notes **Step 2: You Source & Create Visuals** - Gather publicly available footage and screenshots - Create custom animations for technical explanations and timelines - Build motion graphics and infographics - Establish visual style consistency **Step 3: You Edit & Assemble** - Sync voiceover with visuals - Create a rough cut for feedback - Refine based on our notes - Deliver a final polished version **Step 4: We Review & Iterate** - We provide detailed feedback (pacing, clarity, visual choices) - You make revisions - Final deliverable ready for upload ----- ## STYLE REFERENCES We want the editing and animation style to resemble content from these channels: 1. **Crumb** (YouTube) 1. **Thinker** (YouTube) 1. **Ironic** (YouTube) 1. **Cybernews** (YouTube) **Key aesthetic themes across all:** - Cinematic color grading (cool tones, high contrast) - Smooth motion graphics and animated transitions - Lower-thirds and text overlays that enhance (not clutter) - Pacing that builds tension and maintains engagement - Real screenshots/footage + custom animations blended seamlessly ----- ## WHAT WE’RE TESTING In the first 1–2 videos, we’re evaluating: ✓ Can you understand the brief and execute the visual style we’re targeting? ✓ Can you create custom animations that explain technical concepts clearly? ✓ Can you maintain consistent visual branding across the video? ✓ Are you responsive to feedback and able to iterate quickly?
