Front End Developer with React Experience

We are looking for a skilled Front End / WordPress Developer to join our team, with a strong focus on website maintenance, stability, security, and ongoing support. The role involves supporting around 50 WordPress websites, handling downtime, bugs, fixes, and general client communication. Experience working with support or ticketing systems is a plus, and strong written English is essential. Our sites are primarily built with WordPress using ACF and React. Our workflow includes GitHub and hosting via DigitalOcean, Forge, and Kinsta. Responsibilities • Maintain WordPress websites, including plugin updates, security patches, and bug fixes • Develop, customise, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins • Investigate and resolve downtime, errors, and performance issues • Integrate third party APIs and web services • Collaborate with UX and UI designers to deliver responsive, accessible websites • Optimise websites for performance, SEO, and security • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript • Manage version control using Git and participate in code reviews • Test and debug across browsers and devices • Maintain clear technical documentation • Stay up to date with WordPress and web development best practices Skills Required • Proven experience developing and supporting WordPress websites • Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript • Object oriented PHP experience, with an understanding of npm and Composer • Experience working with ACF • Solid understanding of responsive web design principles • Experience using Git for version control • Good understanding of SEO fundamentals Nice to have • Knowledge of Tailwind though this is not essential • Familiarity with React or Angular • Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Sanity • An eye for design and attention to detail • Experience working in a support or agency environment
